bangin_explorer Posted October 12, 2008 Report Share Posted October 12, 2008 Well i have quite a few eye sore rust spots on the Explorer that im tired of looking at daily, so..... Time To Do Work the spots are not TOO bad, but they are there and piss me off. so i wanna get them taken care of before another wonderful OhiO winter since they get worse each year. i also wanted to keep track of what i'm doing and maybe, just maybe get a little help along the way from all you Body guys out there since i'm not a "expert" at this, but i DO have Some body work experience. and maybe this will help others out that have rust problems and just dont know how to exactly go about getting it done, or maybe just need to see it in action to get the "gist" of it. I will take as many pics as i can in the process. i will just be doing the basics::: cleaning up the rust spots to bare metal, bondo, sanding, even more sanding , primer and paint MAYBE b4 the winter, otherwise it will get a new coat of paint when the weather breaks after winter. i'm really hoping that i wont have to replace any metal, but i wont know that till i grind it down and see whats going on under there. I will get pictures of the eye sores 2marrow after i give her a bath. but till then here is a couple tools i got to help me along the way. some of them in the pics wont be getting used in this project but they were in the pics when i took them a few days ago.. the other tools will come in handy later on down the road. I won't be getting started for about another week or so since i still need to get a few things (sanding blocks, bondo, sandpaper, ect..) just wanted to get the thread started and get a few pics up.. truck pics 2marrow guys. ....................................................... bangin_explorer Posted October 13, 2008 Author Report Share Posted October 13, 2008 When your done with your truck you should come and do my car. it looks like you got some work ahead of you good luck and cant wait to see the final project lol, or you can just swing this way hahaha.. i got a extra room for you to crash in.. yeah its gonna be a little bit of work, not too bad i hope, but i honestly wont know till i get it to bare metal and see whats going on underneath that rust.. but from what it looks like i dont think i will have to replace any metal so it shouldn't be too bad. and thanks man, i'll be taking pics through the whole process. oh, when its done, the truck will be a Royal or midnight blue w/some sort of pearl in it. haven't decided yet. im kinda thinking it wont be painted till after winter so i got some time to think about the color scheme it will look nice tho. .......................................................
