I was at my local shop today an showed him my amp and all that and he said that when using Rockford amps without using the bass knob you lose up to 30% in output power... is this true??

depends on the model of amp you have. but yes they have made amps that dont make full output without the bass knob. Hence why less fosgate amps blow subs with the bass knob then others. If you think like an idiot and design the amp to work with people that are idots then less returned equiptment. Same reasoning behind me no longer telling people to turn off loud and turn down the pioneer SLA unless they already dont have it on. If they figured out how to turn it on in the first place and dont turn it off after a day of crappy distortion me tuning their amp to be loudest with all that off is just setting an appointment for a blown sub.

theres no such thing as too expensive when it comes to upgrades like that, because imo if you are gonna spend to upgrade then do it correctly rather then be a cheap ass ricer

like i said its only select models. They gave it a shot and IMO it sorta worked but either too many people bitched about it or something because they went back to the conventional methods. But you are correct if your amp makes full power at _ gain adding bass boost just makes it clip and distortion is never really louder
