Lunch's Charade, 6x15"s & 18,000rms

Recommended Posts

hey guys!

i've been on here a while, and posted a few vids and another neglected build log (car is now retired before i got to finish the log)

but i figure it's time i post up my toy nick named, Project BOOM!!

my 1990 Diahatsu Charade, it's been walled for a while now, gone thru a couple of different baffle configs, but i'm pretty set on the current build...

so far it's had a 2x 15" flat wall tuned @ 45hz... but never had the gear to get seriously loud, and groundpounders have always been more my scene, then it was rebuilt with 12x 10"s and 7,500rms, it did well but due to a few issues just didn't do what i wanted, that got a best of 151.4db, between 55hz and 28hz it only changed .8db, it was a VERY linear setup, butthere were a few issues, and it really just wasn't loud enough for me...

which leads me to the current build, 6x 15"s and 18,000rms (rated)

the gear -

- 6x 15" Cadence DCW15s

- 3x USaudio Bonecrusher2s (6060rms @ 1ohm 18v tho it's currently running a 12v system, the 18v is on it's way...)

- 8x Cadence CVL6x9 mid bass

- 2x clif designs 4" mids

- 2x Orion full bodied tweeter

- 6x Stinger/Fullriver SPV70 batteries

- Stinger and Shok industries Cabling

i guess some build pics are needed now? lol

and NOW... the AMPS....

these are some pretty big amps, being a some 45" long each, or there abouts...

so trying to figure out the mounting...

DSCF6963.jpg

we like it THERE!

DSCF6966.jpg

and now the 2nd amp

DSCF7006.jpg

DSCF7005.jpg

and now the 3rd...

DSCF7011.jpg

i've still got to get some brackets welded up to "float" it above the other 2 amps but you get the idea!

for the time being the 3rd amp is just sitting above the bottom amp on a couple of pieces of 3/4mdf...

post-10026-129838851827.jpg

so far the car has only had one outing, but it's done pretty well so far...

- 155.6db @ 38hz DBdrags legal

- 153.7db @ 30hz Bass Race...

theres ALOT more in this setup, but it's getting there slowly...

the windshield didn't last too long at all, managed maybe 5-10seconds on music

thanks man, personally i was more of a fan of the 10"s as far as looks go, but it really should have been louder for what it was, unfortunately i didn't have a TONNE of power on tap, and the woofers were entry level gear, add to that it had some loading issues with the top row of woofers, it had been apart a few times and i simply couldn't sort out the issues, so it was put in the too hard basket! lol

polus when the offer of this build came up i really couldn't turn it down, plus now the results are really talking for themselves, the car is currently the loudest in my state, as well as being one of the ten in Australia... and thats without any actual tuning, there's ALOT more left in the setup,

ideally i'm aiming to burp in the 160s (in the mid 30hz region) and bass race as close to that as possible...

BUT unltill then, i've got a rather average video from it's debut,

hopefully you guys enjoy that!
