Thanks, Its a HUGE difference now. its Quick, with the higher compression bottom end I don't need much boost to make this think come to life. lower tuning is just hard. My cousin and I really wanted to do this swap into his Impala a little while back. It doesn't matter which PCM you use, YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY NEED A CUSTOM TUNE. The L36 block(N/A) 3.8 is 9.4:1 and the L67 (S/C) block is 8.5:1. You also Cant just bolt on pulleys with out doing a lot of supporting mods first. The higher compression block DOES NOT need as small of a pulley. A top swapped car will yield ~10% more power than a factory S/C'd car at the same mod level. My car will absolutely destroy a GTP that has a 3.5" pulley ZZP can send you a PCM that is all tuned for your mods and the top swap but I wanted a dyno tune to ensure I got what I paid for. 252WHp and 321WTQ, I'd say so My car made ~160 at the wheels stock a GTP stock makes ~190WHP. lower tuning is just hard. 97SSBlazer Posted October 24, 2011 Author Report Share Posted October 24, 2011 The BEST mod you can do for any W body car (Impala, Monte, GP, Bonne, Regal, etc) is the AeroForce scan gauge, it is one of the few that can detect KR (Knock Retard). KR is the most important thing to know in my car. You can even set it up to flash the lights if you exceed the parameters that you set. check into it. They are about 240.00 but ONE gauge does EVERYTHING Literally! lower tuning is just hard. Thanks, should run mid 13's in the 1/4 and is capable of 146+ DB's I going to be modding this thing as much as possible with out installing a cam. I want to keep the drive ability and MPG. I will be using 1.9 Rockers to add another 20+ HP than dropping another pulley size and adding 1 or 2 degrees of timing to achieve close to 300WHP. Im sure ill nuke mt trans soon after so a ZZP trans is on the list too lower tuning is just hard.
