The DC audio lvl 5s Civic Build

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, been saying I was going to start a build log for quite a while...just never got around to doing it. Just tore my car all the way down to metal to clean her up and mount batteries, amps, run wires...the whole nine yards. So I figured id go ahead and put her up here. As most say, this isnt going to be the fastest build log by any means, but it shouldnt go snail slow. This build is going in a 98 Honda Civic Sedan. Meade style. 8):clapping: Heres a quick list of everything I have here ready to install or already installed:

Shitty Aiwa HU :peepwall:

Herts HSK 165 (old version)

Zuki Audio Eleets version 4 channel amp

Rockford fosgate T1000BD

All tsunami wiring with stinger speaker wire

About 40 Square feet of SS Damp Pro

Tsunami RCAs

XS Power D5100R in the trunk

Thats right, no subs right now. Just got rid of my old 'temp' setup:

A couple kenwood '12s' at 4 ohms on the t1000. Wasnt near enough. So heres a list of whats to come soon:

DC Power or Mechman H/O alt

Set of HSK 165XLs (New versions) to add to the HSK 165 set

1-2 D3100s when I add more power

Probably a single 15" sub sealed off from the trunk port/sub firing into the cabin

New headunit, possibly double din with a fabbed center console

Wheels :ehh:

Probably forgetting a bunch of stuff...but its a work in progress. Onto pics for the whores. I didnt have a chance to take a ton of pics, but figured I might as well post what I have. (May I warn you, they are pics from my iphone. Ill probably be using a HD camera to take pics from here on out.)

First real new piece I got a while back.

Resting voltage

11%2525201%25253A33%25253A18%252520AM.jpg

JUST got the windows tinted yesterday. Dont have a before/after pic. In fact, I cant find any full body pics of the civic. :peepwall: Ill have to fix that tomorrow.

11%2525201%25253A25%25253A49%252520AM.jpg

Just also got some Tokico HP shocks with H&R Lowering springs as the front struts were shot. Dropped her 2" in the front before she even settled, and is still dropping the more I drive it. :woot: Im putting the rears on tomorrow hopefully and will get before/afters if I remember. Should be a 2.5" drop in the rear after she settles. Heres a shot right after I got them on. Yes I know, the cars dirty. :ninja:

11%2525201%25253A30%25253A56%252520AM.jpg

Some sexy new equipment:

11%2525201%25253A31%25253A56%252520AM.jpg

I think its pronounced, fraj-uh-billy-tee. :orly3: What could it be?!

11%2525201%25253A32%25253A20%252520AM.jpg

Shes purty: (Fucking iphone shitty flash...)

11%2525201%25253A31%25253A22%252520AM.jpg

So after all of that, I had everything kind of piling up. Couldnt hook the battery up because I needed wiring and I wanted to mount her in the trunk and eventually tuck everything and shave the bay to make her all kinds of sexy. (For those who havent seen them, civics can look VERY clean under the hood with a battery and fusebox relocate. (along with deleting things like ABS and PS, etc.)) Examples:

11%2525202%25253A11%25253A48%252520AM.jpg

So anyways, I ordered all the fuses and fuseblocks and wiring and RCAs and the list goes on and on...to hook up a bunch of the things I had sitting around. I just started this last night and will try to finish it by tonight:

Do work son. Tearing EVERYTHING out to clean it all and lay wire the correct way. Not thrown under the carpet...tucked away under and around everything.

11%2525201%25253A30%25253A28%252520AM.jpg

Shes Nekkid :OhYeah:

11%2525201%25253A29%25253A30%252520AM.jpg

Laying some Damp Pro after cleaning everything of course.

11%2525201%25253A29%25253A05%252520AM.jpg

Half the paper from the damp pro:

11%2525201%25253A27%25253A20%252520AM.jpg

WHERE THE FUCK IS MY DURALAST :ohsnap:

11%2525201%25253A27%25253A45%252520AM.jpg

11%2525201%25253A28%25253A10%252520AM.jpg

Starting to run the tsunami to the trunk for the battery. For a battery relocation, you just run wire from alt to battery, then from battery pos to PDB (fusebox under hood) and the starter. I havent hid my wires yet as theyre right where the battery was, but eventually I will do a full wire tuck under the hood and shell be sexy. Especially if I throw a B or K series motor in there at some point. :pardon:

11%2525201%25253A28%25253A38%252520AM.jpg

^^ Thats how shes hooked up until some tucking of wires (to starter and PDB). If I can hide those she'll look very clean just with the clutter of the battery out of there.

This is how shes sitting now. Rocking a stripped car with only one seat. No ladies riding in here tonight. :nea:

11%2525201%25253A26%25253A50%252520AM.jpg

And ALL the rest of the shit that needs to go back in. P.S. I think theres more there now that I hadnt pulled out yet.

11%2525201%25253A26%25253A23%252520AM.jpg

THEN this is where, after all the scrubbing and power washing the carpet (2 beers, 3 sodas, and a milkshake all got spilled in the passenger floorboard in the last 2 months...I finally had the chance to start on my false floor for the trunk, battery box, and the amp rack. It got too dark on me tonight to finish the last two cuts for the amp rack, but ill get them in the morning. And FYI yes my car is still torn apart...its gonna be a long day tomorrow. Pics of the work done so far:

11%2525201%25253A25%25253A03%252520AM.jpg

^^ The false floor will be screwed to the frame (theres spots for it towards the back seats) and hinges will be added to part of it so I SHOULD be able to, if it all goes right, leave the amp rack attached if I need to get to the spare tire well. Although I may lose the spare for extra batteries or more amps in the future. If the hinges dont work the way I plan, im just attaching the amp rack with L brackets, so like 8 screws and shell pop out, or maybe ill be a little more imaginative. Well see.

(Pic of the battery box in the next post, too many here.) :cray:

Now the reason the amps arent hooked up other than the fact the amp rack isnt done, is the fact that the damn 4 gauge ring terms I have are 1/4" opening...they dont fit the terminal posts. So ima look around town tomorrow to see if anyone carries ones that will fit. I tried to drill these out with your normal wood drill bit and it didnt work too good...I wasnt going to pay the $45 that lowes wanted for a step drill bit when you can get them online for like $12. Once I get some new ring terms, the amps will be hooked up. I still need to run the speaker wire to the doors, I was just having trouble getting to the actual stock weather grommet after working for so long today on all of it, I decided to call it quits. I dont have all the right tools for the job and was fed up with fighting this all day. So decided to call it quits for the night until tom. Which is also my 21st birthday. :ninja::drink40:

The amp rack and getting wires run are my main forcus for the morning. Then I need to start getting the car back together and mount tweeters in the A pillars and im well on my way to a decent system minus the sub. Alot of you have probably seen my 'plans' around the forum in several posts, but lets just say the 1400 watts from the T1000BD wont be enough for the sub im going to be getting. Im torn between two or three, and have never run anything over a 12". So im wanting to do a 15". I MAY change my mind for two 12"s if I found a good price on them...but im thinking one monster 15" should do me well until I break down and can afford to build a wall. :peepwall:

Ill keep this build updated for sure, and will be getting much better and hopefully more pics. :yahoo: Cant wait to get some real bass in her though. I is excited. Thanks for checking out the log, and stick with me. It will get big at some point, I promise. :drinks:

Some pics of the battery box, ones shitty but oh well:

11%2525201%25253A25%25253A32%252520AM.jpg

As I said, amp rack is first focus tomorrow. I think its going to look cool, but will look even better with a big sub box taking up a ton of room in the trunk. It looks too big right now. Plan for the amp rack is them angled on a step-up rack with the longer eleets on the bottom and the T1000 mounted up top, staggered so you can see both. The T1000 board is just as long as the Eleets board (21" long) to fit a much heftier sub amp when I get a sub for it to push. :peepwall:

Oh, and im looking for some wheels here soon. This exact civic, color and all, is popular around here. Especially with old people...most places you see the coupes and hatches...you see more sedans here than anything. Makes me cry sometimes...so I want something NOT the norm. Im thinking these wheels and something crazy like flat black and a purple lip, or orange...idk, you guys give me some ideas if you want, but I want them to definitely catch your eye. I couldnt find some with smaller spokes, but I love these 5 spokes here. If the spokes were just a little thinner I think theyd be perfect. Any suggestions on other wheels and your opinion on these would be greatly appreciated guys. haha

Id remove the cap if possible.

Looking good bro

Thanks man, weve talked a couple times, but once you hear anything on DC stocks for XLs and up, gimme a shout. May be a part for one in this build. :peepwall:

Also forgot to mention, the PDB under the hood fusebox will also be relocated into the car soon, probably the glovebox or passenger airbag compartment. (with airbag removed of course) It helps get those wires out of the way and cleans it all up even more. (Never relocated it, anyone who has that has some pointers feel free to pm meh!) This car will eventually get a wire tuck and probably at the least an H swap. Also, its an automatic right now. Im in the process of getting the parts for a manual tranny conversion and will be deleting the PS and WWFluid and useless shit like it to clean up under the hood even more...and may eventually drop A/C for a second alt for MOAR POWA. 8)

I'll send you $50 for the Kenwoods shipped to Houston

Steve :drinks:

Sold it to the guy I bought them from. He sold me the whole 'kit' for like $100. I built the box for them and they sounded ALOT better, and he also has a civic and the box was made for a vic...so he bought them from me for $200. :yahoo:

I love making money on the stupid little things.
