Road to 150+ with single 15.

Recommended Posts

Good luck with the setup! I have no doubt that it is possible to have a single 15 hit 150dB. Wasn't there a guy who got a single 18 that could hit 180+dB couple of years ago? If he could do that, you could do that too!

EDIT: Here's a link to a guy who got a single 18 hitting 180db in case if you're curious!

[link]

You didn't really say that did you?!?! Where are you getting this info, I HOPE you're joking and I missed it....

*Edit-Was this done on a TL?

No idea, man. I tried to search more information about how he do that and what kind of mic it was tested on but no luck. Can anyone else confirm this?

I guess he was talking about how it's an extreme comp car, bolted everywhere probably. While mine is a street class car and nowhere near that level, lol. But that's ok! I know with a lot of work....i'll eventually get up there with all my testing. Maybe not this year.....maybe not next but I see a ton of people, like tommyk, hitting 150 with a single 10 without a sweat but other people with the same vehicle or even simliar trucks, needing tons of power or a lot of cone area to get anywhere close. Why? Cause he's put in a ton of work. Go onto Ca.com and look at his threads and posts years ago, he was only hitting 135 db a decade ago. He put in a ton of work, Hitting what? 154 with a single 10 now?

I'll get there;) But for now, my magic box is retiring, cracked the second baffle off......motor force...ftw? Lol.

I dialed it back a couple notches. Put in my hdc3 wired at 1 ohm. Clamping ~1200 watts. That's my set up while I fix up my car and try deadening and other stuff. So far, it's up to 146.1 @headrest. And like 147.5 in the kick. Not bad numbers for the watts and single 15. Wait till I drop in another sub and drop to .5 ohms.

Came across my own thread, I can add some more info.

Placed 3rd at meca world finals in street 2. Scored a 148.7.

Haven't worked on it much this year but unofficially up at 149.3.

Single sundown z v.3 15 on a dd m3a. I can add more power or put the meter in the kick, both will put me into 150's but this is my street 2 set up so i'm sticking with what I got.

Here is a link to a build that I did off similar power in my Focus. All metering was done on the dash with the car sealed so I could see some improvement with windows open in your case. The vehicle that you have is very good for spl and I'm sure you will get loud soon enough.

street 2 in meca might be a tad interesting this year

This isn't teeball. YOU DO NOT GET A TROPHY JUST BECAUSE YOU SHOW UP. Put the work in and then maybe get the respect when it has been earned
