Davecubs14 Posted September 8, 2014 Author Report Share Posted September 8, 2014 On my phone and have no idea how to multi quote, hispls, if I recall, when I was up at a 149, I had a 4 cu.ft. Box, 9 inch adjustable psychoacoustics port and the dd m3a, I got an aq 3500, put in a dowel in the box for bracing, I also went from 2 xs power batteries to 4 banks of caps, charging them to only 14.4 volts, that put me over a 150, I believe around a 50.3, once I ran the caps by themselves, charged them up to 15 volts, that put me over a 51. I think best score I got at home was a 51.3. I had a cap leak on me at finals, had to run only 3 banks. Right now, my set up sits at a 50.5, due to the new meca rules (have to have caps connected to your batt and alt and I have not bought an external regulated alt to charge up to 15 volts.) In the middle of building a 4.5 cu ft box, can't go really any bigger. And yes, 80 amps of fusing off of the aq 3500, that's how meca classifies their classes, fusing between amp and batteries, you can run a bigger fuse or smaller, depending if you can get a good score out of that fusing, I could with 80 amps so I stuck with the class, you can check out their website for more info. bigsausagepizza Posted September 9, 2014 Report Share Posted September 9, 2014 I don't know too much about cap banks, is that 80 amp fuse between the caps and amp, or is it upstream of the caps? Just asking because even assuming perfect efficiency, 1200W/15V=80A, meaning you're getting nowhere near 3500, but maybe if there is no fuse between caps and amp you can draw some crazy current off those for a short period? I ran a knukonceptz 80 amp fuse. I think that's what you were asking? I have not clamped it to see how much power I was getting, but my score jumped so I was happy lol. I knew it probably did, sucks when that happens! Here's the video from Sunday, took home second and first respectively. Not done yet....
