I have more guts than all of you!

Got some free stuff the other day, a working LP player (old school front-loading Pioneer) and this big 'ol Denon receiver that is broken. I was happy to learn that it was busted since it is relatively nice and not too old meaning we get to take a detailed look inside of a modern 7.1 receiver at no cost!

Just lugged onto my bed at this point, you can see that someone at Denon was hard at work putting this unit together

The large transformer and the board just to the left of it make up the main power supply and AC filtering section.

Power supply removed, now we can look at the processing and amplification

Amplifier power supply, the power amp is in the bottom of the unit but the board up top with the transistors screwed into the heatsink is supplying it.

A shot of one of the boards containing some of the many inputs/outputs, covered in small capacitors and SMD ICs for processing

A peek at the power amp, here you can see two large capacitors to the far left (self branded but made by Nichicon), in the middle is the pre-amp board, and then the amplifier's transistors against the heatsink.

Here is the power amplifier all by her lonesome, seven channels all visible

Hope you enjoyed the pictures and maybe learned something about what is lurking in your A/V receiver! I was glad to find an educational sacrifice for once, normally people repair these for some reason. Even the nicest receivers are bitchy and don't last, I think they are all junk! :D

I'm gonna hate
