I've done some building... damn near fried my car crispy... and generally have had some fun with my progress this far... I'll start in the beginning' I went to a yard sale... the lady said its the last day.... i want everything gone so make me an offer and you can have whatever you like ( whatever you like) see what i did there? lol. but any who she had a weak ass 2 10 inch road master box there... i was like ehh ten bucks and it was mine. it still has the horns here.... lol they didn't last long... any who being as retarded as i was i took and ran a power and ground wire... it said on the cover that it needed 12v so i gave it twelve volts.... i found out a week later that it wasn't an amplified enclosure... go figure.... so I though it bumped pretty good just hooked up to the stock speaker wires i thought hey maybe an amplifer.... so i went and bought a XPE 4700 800w max amplifier from walmart (this purchase ends up being awesome fun later) well about this time i started having trouble with the car... the damned coil crapped out on me on my way to work and was down for a month.... literally it was one thing after another... the breaks then i realized the damned ball joints were shot. any way a thousand dollars later my car is back on the road... the day before i was to start drving it daily again i shorted out my battery. It turns out that them damn 69 dollar special batteries HATE being deep cycled. Especially when they are four years old I had a few cores and things to take back to advanced auto.... So i said hey i need a new battery... a good battery... so i went serious.... and so i got it home and put it in the car ready to strap it down and i see this... took it back to advance and the homie hooked me up with a new one... then on craigslist i had the good fortune of finding the subs on currently running for $50 yeah shes ugly as shit... it sounded just as ugly... it was tuned to ~50 hz... ummm yeah not low enough for my likes... but any who i got these bad boys out of the deal... and scrapped the damn box... 2 10 inch mtx t7104's( model thunder 7000's ten inch 4 ohm impedance) so i built my box... my first box its sealed and running about 4 cu ft ( 7423 cu in~ plus bracing and crap) heres how that went i got my cut list together and got to the saw.... got it figured how i wanted it to go together got the corners put together. This is part of where I messed up... probably should have started with the bottom and the sides... oh well ill remember for the next build then put the sides all together... turns out i cut the face and back a lil too long.... it became insanely clear in the next step... but instead of fixing it.... well i was impatient... kind of skipped a step here but i put the bottom on and realized I messed up and cut the front and back too long because the sides hang over a lil bit... the sub reinforcements are on too! the finished build pre terminal and speaker cuts... the 3 inch terminal holes were a breeze to cut.... hand drew the circle and it came out perfectly.... didn't mess around with anything... straight ring terminals too see that? lol The speaker holes SUCKED to cut.... i couldn't get the damn circle straight for the life of me... so i decided to start cuting and let the subs carry me.... NOW the whole cutting 1.5 inches of MDF with a jig saw? Not exactly the easiest job but I did it... here's everything wired up and ready to be sealed into the box. I was having surgery the next day so I decided to let everything set up in the trunk.... here she is in there... view from the cab heres the view from the trunk... I'm currently on the tail end of recovering from my surgery... so I'll have more stuff coming to show.... while ive been down ive done a few lil things.... I modded my amp with a 120mm fan and PUSHED it to the brink of a melt down.... i need to get pics of that rounded up and I'll show that here soon as I do. I've also installed a new JVC head unit. and i have a new 1600w amplifier coming to properly push these subs. I'd say easiest way to port that would be 2 4" aero-ports off the front of that baffle if there is room for it. I've kind ve thought about that... but I may just scrap the box... or sell it on craigslist... in favor of a nice ported box... with the center shared slot port... just because they look intense and tuned it to like 35hz. this time I know what not to rush on though hahaha... mostly the whole job... take my time and get it right... oh and use my sads brad nailer and save my fingers actually just unboxed my new amp.... FUCK YEAH! trying to decide on where to locate the knob at though. and I may take that silver crap off its kinda cheap lookin but still very excited...
