WillPwn4Food
Well, I figured I might as well start this. The journey over the years of my 01 Taurus SE. From the beginning.... I got it in 2010 from my parents. My first vehicle. A stock Taurus....Didn't last long before I had to do something to it. So my first system was a single 15" cadence wild beast on a Alpine 1800w amp(Only 500 rms @ 4 ohms.) But it sucked, so I never took pics.... Then of course, the spring of 2011 I got bored over spring break and thought this was a great idea....Yup. Some giant ass 20lb lambo door hinges. The old hinge:Fender off.My cousin Andrew using torch to get the old hinges off. Those bastards were stuck good.Yes, yes. I know.Shame on me for door-jamming my 4gauge power cord. I was young and dumb! But the old wire grommet had to come off. It was too big for the new giant hinge and that to fit. So all of the wires are now wired together. No harness.Held on by nothing but tape lol.First fit... The door was a little off. The tape stretched. So we had to break the welds on the hinge and redo it.Got it on right this time. Could go up this high, but it's really hard to grab from there. So we settled for about a 45* angle.Dem wings.Oh yeah. Forgot. There's fuckin' snow on the ground. U.U Lovin the ND weather.About a year later, a girl failed at driving and broke my baby The half-hour wait for the police to get there sucked. But the car is fully insured so it allowed me to invest in some new stuff Like.... New headlights! (The old one got cracked from accident.)And HID's!And I got rid of the old silly Cadence in the trunk. But why? Well I had more insurance money left and Leif Wall of MN's Loudest had a set of N2's I couldn't pass up.... So I strapped them on 2 Planet Audio BB2400.1's.And after a few short months, it was time to get rid of them and my ghetto ass wiring....Damn.... I forgot what my back seat even looked like until now....Picture of the new subs taken by a potato: 4 Skar VVX v1 15's.... Shit just got real.Part of the baffle coming together. (Don't worry. The sides that look like wood is missing were up against the sides of the wall and had a ton of fiberglass there. It's sturdy.)More to come.... WillPwn4Food
Starting to go up.Sketchiest thing I've done lately....Top isn't screwed on yet so don't mind the gap. Couldn't wait to see how it felt looking back at the box.Out with the old shitty RCA'sAnd in with the KNU!This Karma SS speaker cable has the thickest jacket ever. Sucked balls cutting. But seems like some good stuff. This thing is my very best friend in the winter...So in this time, I don't have any pictures of me glassing the inside because my potato died and my photos were lost But oh well. WALL! Well, Kinda. Not sealed off... But even at that... Shit was loud. Had 0 low end but 40hz is vicious. About 11 cubes after displacement. tuned to 34hz.Sold the Planet Audios. They were power hungry pieces of poop that got hotter than a virgin at a whore house. I got myself a single amp... What is it? Can't say. But here's the amp rack goin up!And glassed.Got REALLY tired of sanding by hand (Don't have a palm sander.) so I said fuck it. It was decent. I slapped some paint on it. Had a comp in 2 days to attend. Didn't have anymore time to perfect it.Cut out the bottom, and mounted the amp. Oh wait. What amp? A B2 Zero.5. God that amp is beautiful.Got some stickers and plasti-dipped the inside of the windows. 0% tint so you can't see up in my windows. And of course there's a wall blocking me from doing the back window... So I did it on the outside. Doesn't look terrible. Temporary till I rebuild in spring. It's about fuckin' time. Fiberglassing the wall to the car. I will now ALWAYS have a wall in this car, as well as every car I own from here out.I also swapped the VVX v1's with v2's.... And then this happened....My first hairtrick on my stereo.I don't know why I never took any pictures of the finished wall yet, but I will in a day or two. Went to my hometown small-ass sound comp. 1st place bitches. WillPwn4Food
Months later, I decided it's probably time to do something about that bumper... So I got myself a body kit.Old one is a giant pile. That's going straight to the dump. And after a day, All I got done was the front bumper. That took a lot longer to do than I thought.Had to drill and cut a lot on the new bumper. Kato Combat kit from Andys Auto Sports. Wish I knew it'd be that hard. Oh well. The side-skirts were a GIANT pain in the ass too. There's really nothing to secure it.... So each side has 2 good size screws going straight into the body. The side is ATM held on my 3M double-sided adhesive tape. It holds GREAT. So great it actually peals off my paint... But I want something a little less ghetto... So I'm trying tothink of an alternative. Any ideas? This is all I've got so far. Will post pics of the wall as it is in a a day or 2 as well as pics of the back bumper cover when I get that replaced. throttle98
Nice man. I also have an 01 in grandma gold. I was wondering what a wall looked like on the inside. Im planning on fiberglassing the box into the area where the back seats fold down. Im sure a actual wall sounds a lot louder but as of now its my daily and I need back seats. I thought it was funny as hell that you plasti dipped the windows. Maybe if you thought it through you would've tinted the windows : x haha. Do people install the box first than hold up the woofers into the box? I know my woofers are 54 lbs a piece and I couldn't imagine holding it and putting screws in it at the same time. WillPwn4Food
I still wouldn't have been able to tint my back window after I installed the wall. That part I didn't tink through. And plasti-dip for the side windows worked great. $18 plasti-dip for back windows vs $300.... I'm cheap as fuck. Hence the skar. Lol. Oh well. The skars will be gone soon too for some DC. And for my Fi's in the trunk I actually used a car jack to hold the sub in place inside the the back since I didn't have a friend available lol, then screwed them in from the front. 2 15's does NOT fit well. 2 12's would probably seal off perfectly.
