blown amp.. trash or fix..

okay so i purchased a cactus 7k. and in the process of hooking it up it blew the amp section of the board.

by the way this was in no way something i did wrong that caused it to blow.

so i get it fixed and that set me back 450 or so..

so before buying this i talked to you guys and was told i would be able to get by on 3 xs xp3000 a group 65 die hard battery up front and a mechman 270 alt.

i had every intention of purchasing more batteries.

anyways. i get the amp fixed and after two days it blows again. voltage never went below 13.1.

so i talk to the guy that fixed it the first time. and he tells me i didnt have enough batteries.

so i landed a pretty good deal on some batts now i have 4 more odyssey's to my collection total of 7 batteries in the back. excluding the die hard and the alt he said i should be okay.

anyways. he said i probably just blew the power supply after i explained to him which side it was smoking from. which is around 250 or so to fix.

i turned over the amp and checked the guts and noticed a mosfet was broken.

now without sending him the amp and wasting money to find out i have to rebuild the entire amplifier i need yalls suggestions or thoughts on what i should do.

im in college with a very limited budget and i just want bass back lol its going on 5 months and for 4 of them ive just been staring at the carcass of my 7k

Meh. Sell it to some noob on craigslist. Invest in a better amp. If it's blowing that much, I would be scared it'd happen again. money pit if you ask me.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
