mrsmatthew
I want to do a brand new sq build in my 2005 for freestyle. I am going to go with the pioneer 80prs hu with hybrid technology legatia l3 se 7" drivers (not sure about getting the 3" tweets as I was told they wouldn't be necessary with the drivers I'm getting for the doors) not sure on amp and sub yet but I was wondering.... Could I use a 12" fi q for a sq setup???
White Lightning
This is a SPL oriented driver. Not commonly used in a Sound Quality application. If you run Hybrid, I would stick to Hybrid. W140
This is a SPL oriented driver. Not commonly used in a Sound Quality application. If you run Hybrid, I would stick to Hybrid. Please tell me how a Fi Q is a SPL oriented driverFrom Fi: The Q Series of subwoofers is our sound quality reference line. Featuring a hefty high strength single magnet motor structure with a heavily bumped t-yoke, the 27mm of Xmax allows for incredibly detailed, tight, and powerful bass. Triple progressive spiders keep the incredible linear excursion of this sub under control, while the extra heavy lead wire feeds the giant voice coil. With technology pulled from the larger BTL line the new Q has more options than ever before. Hyper chamfer, full cooling, high or low Qts topologies, as well as the ability to add an inductance ring in the high Qts design, there is now even more flexibility within the Q platform. Working well in both small ported and sealed enclosures, you do not have to give up your trunk to have strong bottom octave foundation for the rest of your system. The Q series is the new bottom octave benchmark.
White Lightning
Please tell me why a Fi Q is a SPL oriented driverI always see them in the SPL lanes, But never in the Sound Quality lanes. So if I never see them being used in the Sound Qualiity lanes (You can ask around Sean, I go to SEVERAL events EVERY year), and I never run them, then I would not recommend someone to use them in Sound Quality. Every body needs to realise that just because a driver is capable to play low notes, it does not qualify that driver as a Sound Quality driver. After reading the op's other post and threads, They seem to be more interested in "real world" application verses what the manufacture claims that driver can do. So from my personal Sound Quality experience and knowing that the op's spouse is a Basshead, I'd recommend Hybrid over Fi anyday. Then again, this is just my suggestion here. I'm sure other Sound Quality people will chime in here soon. Kenwood / HELIX / Linear Power (For The Love Of Music) / Brutal Sounds / OverKill Electric Co Questions About Sound Quality ?? mrsmatthew
I haven't heard much about hybrids subs.... Are they good? I always hear great things about the mid driver. I have been looking at the idq12 or the arc12 for my sub.

TheMonolith2001
I think we need to establish how serious he is about doing a SQ build. Most people that say this are really looking to do more of an SQL build which the Fi Q would be perfect for. I haven't looked at his other posts though so maybe you know something I don't. mrsmatthew
I'm a girl.... But I want sq not SQL. My husband is doing and spl build in his car and he said he thought the fi q would work as an sq sub.
TRTC360
If she's running an 80prs with hybrid legatia front stage I think it's safe to assume she really means sq. Not sql.
