2007 Tahoe support air bags, your thoughts?

Recommended Posts

What are your guys thoughts on this kit? It can be had for under 80 bucks. I was hoping to not need any such kit or to alter suspension at all but in the end I do need to. Since I didn't plan on it I am hoping to spend as little as possible. I don't need the most lift in the world or anything just a little somethin somethin

These seem pretty el'cheapo, anyone have experience? Do they actually make a difference? Longevity?

They probably don't do much but it's probably just what I need *I think*

my friend use to run that set up in his Avalanche. Seemed to work for him cause he would tow a trailer for work.

Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born.

My penis is bigger than your penis

I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle.

Ok, got it and installed it today. Took my time doing it so it took something like 2+ hours for me, lol

This kit to be exact.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/111325180001?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Anyways, went in without a hitch, hoped to not have to alter suspension but stereo is too heavy, On with the pics.

First two pics. are stock, everything stock

stereostuff22_zpsd1e2440d.jpg

stereostuff25_zps29a84e21.jpg

Next picture is with sub box and 7 batteries in. Still to go in is 5+ amps, 3 more batteries, subs, and all kinds of wire and fuse holder etc. so like still easily 400+++ pounds and it was already sitting level with no people in it.

Next pictures is after the kit is installed and with the exact same stuff in it as the previous picture

SAM_0736_zps20576f67.jpg

oh and I should add that the bags were at 35 psi each in these pictures. I kept each side separate to help with body roll. By the time I add the rest of my gear I'm sure it will sit level again but the bags did make a difference and I had a chance to go for a 20+ miles drive with it and can tell a difference. It's not night and day difference but for 80 bucks I Can* see and feel a difference so I am happy.

Also, I piped them to my gas filler area, same as I did my Silverado.

  • 1 month later...

SO this wasn't my first time installing these, I took my time and did it right but the passenger side leaks out pretty fast and the driver side leaks out very, very slowly, (like 10 lbs. in 2 weeks) I jacked vehicle back up, removed hoses and fittings and everything but the bags, re-installed everything etc. etc. same thing.....next weekend redid the whole system over again, same fucking thing....I know the hoses are on the barb fittings all the way, I even took apart the Schrader valves to make sure it wasn't them, re-did hose to fitting connection, etc. etc. reattached above the bags, made sure nothing was getting pinched, etc. etc.

Not real happy that it seems like this kit is a POS. I had air chocks on a S10 for friggen years and years.....never leaked even one pound. had air shocks on my Silverado for hauling heavy loads, same thing, never ever leaked at all. Had actual support air bag kit on an Astro van, always flawless. My first time with a cheap air bag kit like this and I cannot get it to hold air. This is the most simple setup/kit you could ever imagine so I'm not sure where it's leaking from. In the direction it says to use a blunt object to install the bags into the springs but I used nothing except my hands so I know I didn't puncture them. I ran each side separate so at least the driver side still works but it's kind of pointless to have one side working when the other one doesn't....

I have since ordered air shocks and will just use those. FML....

Hope this kit goes better for you. I am sick of fucking around with it

Sorry about that bro. I have not had any issues with mine at all. I haven't even checked the pressure in these things since I put them on. Still have the same ride height. The only thing I would have suggested would be to take them out, put them together outside the vehicle and dump them in the tube to see if you can find the leak. Sorry about the bad luck with those bro. If it makes you feel any better I just had a sub take a nap on me and was going to compete this coming Sunday but looks like it may not happen. Just depends if I can get it back in time.

All good. Thanks man. Only a 80 dollar loss really but still wished they worked, lol. Pretty much at a point I don't even know what to do next with them.....

Also, My problem is minor compared to losing a sub before a comp, lol
