MTX TE4001D Thunder Elite Advise...

Hey guys, hope everyone is having a good Easter. I'm doing yard work with the wife today, but it keeps her off my back when it comes to car audio. Gotta keep'em happy somehow...

I have an opportunity to trade my complete sub system I have currently, which consists of (2) Rockford P3 15's brand new, (1) Kicker CX1200.1 amp (2 months old), and the enclosure to match for the listed amplifier above. I've been drawing up my next sub system (actually mid and high's as well), and I wanted to run (2) HDSorC 3 12's on and AQ 2200.1 or Q3500.1.

Is the MTX amp capable of producing the 3800 RMS it claims, considering I have the proper electrical to support it? The highest voltage I will ever get to the amp will be around 13.2-13.5. I don't want to turn this into a discussion about proper electrical (I've upgraded to a HO alt, and have 2 Odyssey Group 34's on the way, along with plenty of 1/0 OFC), but rather if this is a worthwhile trade. The amp has been sent back to MTX and the Power Supply? has been replaced for 140.00 dollars. Everything else was supposed to have been tested while it was at MTX. This is what I've been told so far... The guys said he would hook it up to his DD9500's and let me listen to it, so it sounds somewhat legit so far...

Is this a go or no go? Should I stick with my original plans and buy a new Q2200.1 or Q3500.1 and the listed subs above? OR should I go for this trade? Is this amp worth the money and will it be any better than Q 3500.1?

Sorry for the long post... But any comments will be appreciated regarding this amp. I'm looking to go loud, but musical as well. Not just 5 minutes of LOUD, but rather loud and a daily driver... Thanks in advance to all comments.

I liked the TE1501D I used never seen one on the Dyno but it seemed to make legit power. As far as it being worth trading for your entire system that's up to you. It definetly will make more power than that kicker.

If it works sounds kind of sketchy especially since it sounds like the guys blown it once already...

Thanks for the response BoomZoom... I've never sent an amp back due to failure and wondered how good they were after repair. I think the SoundQubed 3500.1 is probably the way to go. 800 dollars for 3500 watts isn't a bad deal at all, especially with the reputation SQ already has. I would be upset with myself is the amp blew in the first week or two. I guess I wondering if the amp had "enough" upside potential to it to take the risk in the trade? Maybe that can't be answered... I know my current equipment isn't the best, but it gets the job done for now. I have my upgrade pretty much laid out on paper. Now it's time to unload my current system on someone and step up to the next level. I guess I'm trying to not let the "gotta have it now!" syndrome get the best of me and I end up making a bad decision... Thanks for the response. It helps to talk it out...

I have one as well been trying to get one on a dyno too. But it seems he might already have blown it before so I would check it really good especially if he has his gain all the way up.

It sounds like he may have been running it in a .5ohm load with those DD's... Not sure I want it. Think I'm going to go my planned route on paper. He offered to buy my current sub system for 450.00, so I think I'm going to run with that. Thanks again BoomZoom and hazestorm23. As you have to write things out on paper to make since, sometimes you have to run ideas by others before rushing into something.
