robby512
hello if I purchase a head unit with 2 volt preouts then have a eq that turns it into 7 volt pre outs that would mean I now have 7 volt pre outs no matter what the head unit is pushing right? BoomZoom808
Yes but if you still send a garbage signal to the EQ you are going to get 7 volts of amplified garbage. 2010 Mazda 3s 2.5L Pioneer DEH-X9600BHS Knu OFC 1/0 SS Platinum AGM / XS Power XP750 Alpine PDX F-4 / Morel Maximo 5 + Coax 5 IA 10.1 / SSA XCON
robby512
ok and the higher the volts is the better the signal?
BoomZoom808
The higher the voltage the lower your gain needs to be set on your amps. If you pre-out voltage is too low you might not reach the full power from your amp before the gain hits the clipping point. Flame me if I'm wrong I am here to learn as well. 2010 Mazda 3s 2.5L Pioneer DEH-X9600BHS Knu OFC 1/0 SS Platinum AGM / XS Power XP750 Alpine PDX F-4 / Morel Maximo 5 + Coax 5 IA 10.1 / SSA XCON

Nealon14
You might not be able to get all 7 volts out of that equalizer. It depends on how much voltage gain your amps have. For example i have a fosgate 4 channel amp and a hifonics mono amp. The hifonics gains go from 6v to 0.2v and the fosgate only goes from 4v to 0.2v. Therefore i can only set the volume on the eq to match the 4 volts from the fosgate amp and also for the mono amp due to the limitation of the 4v max on the fosgate amp. Im guess your buying the Clarion eqs746? If you dont set it up right you will risk overdriving your amps.
jdshott
With an Eq / line driver you need to be very weary. when you do this you introduce more factors , that can have an adverse affect. I.E. more places for EMI to get in or turning a clean signal into a dirty amplified signal. yes more volts = louder but if its not clean its not worth it. No 1 But me paid for this stuff and NO FREEBIES so no brand names (No Free Advertisement ) A SQ head unit 6 5.25 2 X 6x9s 7804 P400.4 4001D 1 34s (Maybe time to change brand) 4 X 15" s !/0 @ 2/0 OFC Wiring :morepower1: :morepower1: ill say it like i always say it. F##K the DD-1. I don't care if you or anyone buys one. (well i do, but that isn't my point) Get an O-scope in the very minimum and learn how to use it or you are just guessing your settings like every other noob. once you master the O-scope then step up to a DD-1 or even better a DD-1 Plus.
