Battery and Charger help

Recommended Posts

I have a XS Power D3400 and im looking to get a charger for it. I have heard good things about these Battery Tender charger like this one.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Deltran-Battery-Tender-Plus-12v-1-25A-Charging-System-/171183633078?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27db56f2b6&vxp=mtr

would something like this work for me? Also is one d3400 enough for me or should i look into getting another battery. I have a stock alt (idk when my car will die so i dont want to put one in and it give out) and the battery above. My amps are a SQ2200 and a MB Quart 800.4.

I would say around $120. If I need more batteries and thus a charger more than 120 I could save up and get one. As of now my voltage never drops below 13.6v

This would be my pick. I'd be using it myself if it did 14v

http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/microprocessor-controlled+battery+charger-maintainer.do?sortby=ourPicks

Personally, I'm not really a fan of the ctek. The desulfation mode just overcharges the battery at high voltage. Causes AGM batteries to gas and lose electrolyte.

My own opinion: A safer and more effective way of doing so is to charge, discharge, then charge the battery again. The one I posted does this for you. Hook up a battery that will only rest at 12.7v, leave it overnight, come back and it will sit at 13v

alright guy thanks, Ill look into both of those. Any ideas on if I should get another battery or is my one under the hood enough. Like i said the lowest my voltage drops is to 13.6 at full tilt

13.6 volt drop is absolutely fine. Another batt wouldnt solve that.
