Amp Tuning

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I like to know if anyone living in Central California, between Merced to Visalia that have a DD1 to set my gain on my amp.

Here's what I currently have at the moment.

Pioneer AVH-X4600BT

Memphis 16ST1100D (1100watt @ 1ohm)

Single Sundown SA8v2-d2 wired to 1ohm

Custom .9cu slot ported

Stock 130A Honda Alternator

4ga big 3 upgrade

680CA battery for amp.

I've been running this setup for almost a year now and I know its clipping hella bad right now because the gain on my amp is damage. Every time bass hit, the gain will max out sometime it cuts off the gain to near zero. So I came across a Fosgate T1500-1bdcp and I'm about to pickup this coming Thursday. So... lets get to the point, when I pick up the T1500-1bdcp, I want it to tune the amp so I won't be clipping and destroy my SA8V2.

So if anyone live nearby, how much you charge to properly set my gain on the Fosgate T1500-1bdcp?

If no one have one locally, I'm making a trip to SMD.

Thanks all.

Jerry

This will teach you most of what you need to know.

I suggest watching them all, however, videos 7 and 8 are specifically about amplifier gain setting.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

thanks for the quick reply. Can you link me to the video? I can't set the gain on the amp I'm currently running due to gain knob is damage. I'll have to wait till I pickup the Fosgate t1500-1bdcp.

The easiest thing to do would be to buy a DD-1.

Its on the amp itself. When you take a small flat head and try to turn the gain, it will cut out. I have to have something wedge in there to work causing to max the gain amd cause it to clipped. I use my headunit to lower the bass down by lowering the sub output to -10 for some music and -15/-20 for my basd cd I got. If I set my sub level to +6 on my deck, at volume 8, bass is ridiculous loud. So I'm still waiting for that guy who have the fosgate t1500-1bd to get it fix. If he takes too long to get it fix, then I might have to send my 2 Memphis 16ST1000d out to dB-r Electronic to get it fix.
