Hi I'm new and could find a direct e mail

I'm from the uk

After a lot of searching I decided on going. For the 8m3 the specs say the I need .75 cu ft and the sub takes .25 I'm assuming the 1cu ft box I have will do?

It has a L shaped slot port which is 11" deep 2.5" wide and 10" long

At the moment and you can see I'm only using an alpine sws8 with a massive 120w rms

120a alternator with a constant 14v

And an alpine mrv1005 iirc at4ohms 700 rms

Only just had box made as have the sub sat doing nothing for last 4 years

So what shall I do with the box? Keep and modify or new box?

Also how do know what frequency this box is tuned to?

Have you any experience in a larger box? Will it be better at producing the lower frequencies or worse obviously the port will contribute but roughly?

Secondly I'm more for sq than spl ,will wiring it to 8ohms be better?

If that's an 8 in the picture, the port is only ~9" tall. And if it's 2.5" wide and 10" long with a net volume of 1 cube, it's tuned to ~63Hz, which is atrocious tuning for a music setup. Not to mention, it's far too much port area for the Alpine sub.

As for box volume, yes... a larger box will yield better low end response but depending on the sub, it could also cause a nasty dip above tuning. Also, you won't hear any difference in sound quality between 2Ω & 8Ω wiring. If you were in an anechoic chamber with everything else ideal you might realize some audible improvements but in a vehicle cabin you won't.

I would throw a few more wood screws and add some wood glue to that enclosure if it was mine.

Hi

And thank you I was wrong with the sizes it is 9"

will double check them tomorrow for rest of box

The box was allegedly made to alpine's specs with max recommended box volume

Found this link for spec sheet

http://www.manualslib.com/manual/619888/Alpine-Swe-843e.html?page=2#manual

I didn't get box carpeted for the reason if it was staying or not

I have a few test tones and box plays good between 40-60hz??

Right well got tape measure out and the actual box dimensions are

8.5"x8.5"x24

So if I divide that by 1728 the internal vol of the box is a touch over 1cf

So with the port i need to add the width of he port and add the size of the mdf x11x8.5 div by 1728

= 0.16
