UKSQguy
A couple of changes to the streetbass Megane build... So that's ground zero 8's and compression tweeters in the doors, and 3 x 12" GZRW SPL extremes in the boot, Currently they are still getting only 900rms at the most, but it hit 139.9db at the weekend at a competition. Plenty more to come from this especially as we have a nice big battery going in and a GZ 4000.1DBxii amp on order. I'd be happy with a 145+ @ anywhere between 30-40hz out of this. Our wall build has also come along a little bit, bracing added, and the voids around the sides and top of the box have been filled with expanding PU foam. Going to start glassing the inside of the box later. Gav

UKSQguy
Thanks man! Have a little more of the wall done. We have the voids filled now and have started glassing the contours inside the box. Only pic we have atm thoough is this one which doesn't show much apart from how low the damn thing is already and some bracing on the back of the port. More work planned this Sunday so i'll try and remember pics! Gav
UKSQguy
So a few updates then! Got the expanding foam in, 5 cans in all, and added some bracing to the back of the box where the port is. Put a 45 in the back of the box, added some fibreglass and filler. then after much sanding... ....And painting, we have a single coat of a white sealant paint everywhere, couple of coats on the port area to act as undercoat, and a single coat of white gloss (for now). Also prepared the baffle Should have some more progress by the end of the week. Gav

UKSQguy
Thanks Karkov, i don't get many comments in here so its extra appreciated. I wish we were putting something better in than the JBL's in but my bro' is really on a budget. Its solid enough to do a 150 ~ 33Hz off 3k, i can literally jump up and down on the roof and there's no movement at all.
Krakin
I noticed the top piece of angle iron in there, what's that for? Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. UKSQguy
Sorry for lack of updates, been too busy lately with other things. But anyway, this happened... We had it playing briefly using amps linked from other car systems and it does pretty well! Need to get the roof done next where it's going to block the sunroof up. Rear part of the roof has no detectable flex. Gav
