UKSQguy's builds, walled Citroen cracks 150, 18" DC level 6 in a Renault hatchbback WIP

Recommended Posts

Hi all, i'm Gav from Nottingham, England (yes, where Robin Hood came from), and as a newbie i'd thought i'd chuck a few builds including my personal car in one thread as they are all work in progress at the moment. I Started competing in the EMMA format of SQ a couple of years ago with Team Hybrids UK, and tool a class league championship in my first year. Since then i have started my own business doing builds alongside other things like detailing. I concentrate on simple SQ stuff usually but my competitive side wants to get out there with some heavy builds. Business isn't good enough to be ordering the kind of shopping list i would like but thankfully a couple of customers have given me the go-ahead to build them some budget installs.

First up my car - Hybrid audio imagine midbass in custom doors, L1proSE tweeters, xtant and genesis amps, Pioneer P90 combo source unit, Prototype hybrid subs in a sealed ISO.

Onto the 3rd build we are working on - 6 x 12's walled in a Citroen Saxo.

1st Job, strip and laminate the roof with 4 layers of 6mm MDF glued with tiger seal (PU sealant/adhesive)

Starting the process of trimming the sides of the box. I wanted to make it as a box because its my first wall build, and wanted to build it outside of the car first..

The two holes are to allow access to the fuel pump and sender unit which are under the rear seat. I'm hoping to have the baffle and port mostly done on both of these projects this week so i'll be sure to take plenty of pics.

Yes Sir, it is ... LOL

Nice building skills. I'm quite the SQ guy myself. Sort of in-between systems at the moment.

New project in progress (Well, sort of) ...

Thanks mate, i'm kind of learning as i go along here, i wasn't too bothered about doing ported installs but the more i get into it i'm finding the science behind it all fascinating. And of course i'm not happy unless i have mdf dust in my hair and filler stuck to my arms.

The only pic of last nights progress. I found a thick cardboard tube i had spare, and cut it up to use as a roundover for the acute angled part of the box that butts up against the bottom of the rear seat, glued it in then coated the inside of the box with resin. I plan on doing a little smoothing of the edges of that, and i may also glue a larger roundover onto the inside edges of the port (used 24mm dowel cut in half for the port mouth). I want to paint the inside of the port silver, not so bothered about the inside of the box as long as thats smooth.
