Stock Electrical clamp test (3500d)

Recommended Posts

Hey people. So I have been running my saz-3500d @ 2 ohms for about a month now while waiting for my next car to come through (that's where I'm building my final setup). Then today I decided to run a clamp test. Got 10.3A and 63V which is 6.1 ohms and 649 watts. Is this low output due to my bad electrical or could the be other things to look at??

Don't run your amps in the low 10s, your asking for the magic smoke.

The low volts explains some of the reason for the low number. I'd say

the way you clamped it is the real reason. So many people claim clamp

B.S. clamp numbers. Last sentence was not at you. Post a video on how

you clamped it.

Ok I will when I get the chance to record. Ok only thing is I gat 2 clamp meters and no dmm. What I did was clamp the positive speaker cable and put on A~ 200. Then the other clamp meter I put the leads on to the positive and negative on the speaker outputs and set clamp on AC. Then ran 35 hz tone 40 hz and 50 hz tone. Best results were at 35 hz though box rise was way above normal dnt you think

i think you misread, 10.3a is the output of the amp, not the battery voltage.

edit

changed 10.3v to 10.3a

well what is your voltage at the amp power terminals dropping to when you car is running and revved up a bit (around 2k rpm) at full tilt?

Thanks for the input people. I thing I just realised is I measured speaker output voltage and clamped the speaker positive bt did not check the voltage at the amps power cables lol. I could be running low voltage
