Vht NightShade for Patriot Tail lights

Recommended Posts

I am considering tinting my tail lights. How many coats of spray should I use? I don't want crazy dark but nice middle of the road tint levels

Use Rustoleom shade. Its much better. Then use automotive clearcoat, don't use any other. World of difference compared to VHT and regular clear.

Just do light coats until you're satisfied with the darkness. Everyone sprays down different thickness.

What makes Rustoleum a better product than VHT?? Lots of people seem to like vht with good results

Any other input would be appreciated

Just seems to work a little better. Few more dollars for a better product. Ive used both numerous times, just feel the rustoleom lays down better and looks better. Either or its your choice in the end.

I actually looked at that stuff but hadn't heard of it before and wasn't sure if it was worth the $$

It's worth it having them done with the smoked vyinl looks way better plus you can go back to stock if needed.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

I actually like vht better then the rustoleum, I've always used vht with good results. I can't say the rustoleum is terrible but the one can I used seemed to splatter when applying the coats, the vht always is a very fine mist. As for amount of coats, just apply light coats till you get the darkness you want, if you plan on wet sanding to get a nice shiny/smooth finish apply an extra coat so the sanding doesn't remove to much and change your darkness.

I used the VHT and believe I used 5 or 6 light coats. You can still see a slight red tint on my tai lights bc I didn't want them completely black. I also used 4 thin coats of glossifier then wet sanded the light with 2000 or 3000 iirc grit sand paper then buffed them with polishing compound. They look like they came stock like that in the car now.

It's 100% worth it. There is nothing better. The spray on's work well, but this looks nicer and is removable if need be.
