Pretty easy to do helps put less strain on your alt. I would also suggest grounding your alt to battery and upgrading your battery with the biggest xs batt that will fit. Weather does suck here lately in the chi.

Well as I stated you are stressing your alternator.Your alternator uses x amount of energy to top off batt to start car and x amount to run electrical in your car. When you hook amp to batt you are pulling more energy from batt thus more energy is needing to be sent to batt. The stock wire is only capable of letting so much energy through. Thus Big 3 upgrade to allow more energy to travel to batt easier which is also hooked to your amp. So the choice is yours but the answer is do it.

Still learning but have started gathering.

You guys do realize his stock wiring can handle the output of the alt right?

This means upgrading wiring wont mean he will get more power from it. Its not needed for most part in his situation. He maybe will have 100amp of draw plus the car.

Before suggesting something ask more questions.

Such as

What us your current voltage drop if any?

Do your light currently dim?

Do you pls in upgrading to a bigger amp(s) in the future?

If planning to upgrade its worthwhile to just do it with 0guage wiring.

If you don't have voltage drop now another 50amp of draw wont hurt you.

If you already have voltage drop but its staying in the high 13s your still good most likely.

As long as you don't drop below 11v your not going to be hurting anything but such a small power draw you most likely won't drop below 13v.

If you only drop to low 13s and have headlght dim get over it. Even dropping .1 can create dim. Led or hid headlights are the best fix. Other options people have fought about but I don't know if they have been tried is putting a cap in line with your headlights to stabilalize their voltage.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

If you have a 55 gallon drum of water and you want to transfer it to another drum would you siphon it with a straw or a waterhose?

Water and electricity doesn't mix unless your looking to electrocute yourself.

Yes a big 3 will help. However unless he has some really bad drop it wont make a difference is n his situation ad far as sound or output goes. It might not even make a difference on a meter.

Would it be wise to do it? Yes

Will it make a difference worth the time and money? Not really.

If voltage is dropping lower the 13v on that setup then there could be a reasonable to do the big 3. However I would first check the condition of the battery and recheck all of your wiring to make sure its tight and grounds are good and clean.

Alaskan is right. The draw is not big enough to see a gain from the big 3. But the OP asked if you should do it not if you could get more out of it. Upgrading electrical is always a wise thing to do.
