ProMaxx316
1994 Ford Explorer Automatic 111*** miles To my knowledge the trans service has never been done. So lets begin. Trans external cooler hose was leaking. Transmission was giving me a shutter when on highway, fixed leak, Topped off fluid. Fluid was about 1.5 quarts low. All is good. about a month later, all gears shifting good. Get off highway, transmission not downshifting into 1st gear. On the streets trans shift normal. Only when I get on highway, do my normal drive to work (20 miles) get off highway is when the trans do not down shift to 1st. If I manually shift the truck to first then it takes off like normal. I see that the trans pan gasket has small leak so I do trans filter kit. When changing the filter kit I found no large amount of metal, trans fluid didn't smell burnt. Trans is grabbing all gears good. Feels smoother than before. But still after a highway drive, the car wont downshift into first unless I manually put it in first. My theory is the valve body might be acting up. I have no way of testing it. Any body has any ideas? If it's worth building, it's worth over building.
