rockFord_Expedition Posted November 20, 2014 Report Share Posted November 20, 2014 I stumbled upon this pretty cool calculator that allows you to select the wattage or amperage you want your wire to carry, the length of the run, and the percentage of voltage drop you will tolerate, then tells you the wire size that you will need. I was really surprised on what it said id need for my door speakers. There's also a cool table on that page for 12 volt applications. The only thing about the calculator that I didn't care too much for is that it lists the wire size needed in MCM and not many of us can convert MCM to AWG in our heads so here is a link for that too. It's shows AWG, but after so big it switches to MCM. Or it did for me anyhow. What percentage of voltage drop do we want? I'm guessing basically none?
