Happy Early Thanksgiving Yall :domodance:

Anyways, this is my 2nd time writing this as I fucking closed the window by accident so sorry if it seems a little rushed.

So I've been shooting with my pops for the past year or two and I am leaning towards buying my OWN handgun. I have shot a few handguns / rifles ranging from .22 calibers to .357. I have to say I did not like the .357 and prefer a .38 special if I had to get a revolver, but I am leaning more towards a semi-automatic. The guns I have fired are (to give you an idea and if you can compare this Sig Sauer to any of these):
1) .22 Caliber Long Rifle Semi-Automatic (forgot manufacture)

2) .22 Caliber 200th Anniversary Ruger Semi-Automatic

3) .38 Special Smith & Wesson Hammerless Revolver

4) 9mm Glock 17 9x19 Semi-Automatic

5) .40 Caliber Glock 23 Semi-Automatic

6) Colt Python .357

Out of this list, my favorites were the Glock 17 and the .38 S&W. Out of about 500 rounds, I can say the glock had only about 2-3 malfunctions where jamming or something of that sort occurred. The .38 is just a fun gun to shoot but the accuracy is not that good (or maybe its just me :stfu2: , haha)

But anyways, I'm looking into purchasing a handgun to be my MAIN choice at the range, and eventually to take with me to my household.

So.... What do you guys think of a Sig Sauer SP20229 9mm semi-automatic..? I've watch reviews and I've heard the only con to it is that it is a polymer framed pistol, and well, it also costs half the cost of regular Sigs. And I live in California, so there is a law restricting "Large Capacity Magazines" meaning it is illegal to purchase a clip with 10+ rounds. So.. Thats why I chose this one. It is 10+1 and it stated CA legal or a few websites I've seen online.

Heres a Picture
SP20229BCA-1-large.jpg

Here is the actual listing on a dealer I heard was reliable???? It costs only $450

So in the end.. Does this gun compare to any of the ones I've listed above? Or is it a downgrade from the Glocks. Don't want this to be a vs. thread, just wondering what is the best options for a first semi-automatic purchase.

THANKS FOR THE HELP AND ADVICE!!!!

its okm typically the sigs and glocks go head to head. im surprised you had that many malfunctions out of a glock. my comp gun hasnt had thayt many all summer.

if you dont want a glock look at an m&p or xd/xdM. lots of options out there. id also recommend finding a local gun store and trying or renting before you buy if you can.

What n8 said.. what we may like may not fit or be comfortable for you..

N8 likes glocks I like M&P both great and I have had no issues with any of my m&p

Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born.

I just figured since my dad had the Glock 17 and the Glock 23 already and he will pass them down eventually, I might as well try something different. Never shot a Sig, but I got a uncle in the local city SWAT saying all he shoots are Sigs now. Don't know the reasoning behind it, but just figured he was a liable source with a decent amount of years under his belt. I can't go see him though and try it out because he is always busy.

If I had to look at glocks, which would you recommend besides the 17 / 23? My pops said to look at some 10mm's too but I never even read anything about 10 mms, so I don't know what to look for when purchasing one. The feeling on the glocks seem to be a lil big but I can still have a secure grip while shooting. Only downside, other than that, fun and a great gun.

I was also looking at rugers and berettas but I heard to stay away from berettas. Someone mentioned to me a Ruger 1911 but I only seen Colt 1911's in person. What would you recommend for CA legal M&P. Thats what really got me, is staying in the guidelines of CA legal (I'm looking online to get an idea of pricing / options before I head into shop. I dont want to know completely nothing about what I want to purchase)

Thanks for the help.

AND TOO N8 again, why is it considered an "ok" firearm? I'm not disagreeing with you, as I believe you're 100% correct if thats what you believe (unless its personal) , but is it the mechanics? Some people just say to stay away from glocks as they jam a decent amount but idk.

EDIT: Budget is 700-750$ MAXXX

No 10mm

You want something that ammo is relatively cheap and easy to find locally

10mm has to much recoil IMO for the average person to shoot well in a defense situation. It and 40 mm gap are becoming harder and harder to find like Tacoma said

750??! Yeah, fuck that. Fuck this website, fuck SMD, fuck Steve, fuck all of his butt buddy mods, and their couches.

Thats what I was thinking about the 10mms. Are they alot more "exclusive" in parts / ammunition since they are one of the "smallest" calibers (Smallest as in produced) I think.. haha

And do you know any other online dealers? I have to ship it to my local gun dealer anyways, or I can go to their shops and check em out but for some reason, isn't online cheaper? I'm going to go in probably on the weekend to check some out.

Looking mainly for a 9mm, but I'll take a .40 caliber. Open to suggestions!! Has to have a 10 round clip.

Sigs are solid. I wouldnt hesitate on buying one if thats what is best for you.. The reason for shooing what you can is so you dont buy something that you dont like and is not comfortable in your hand or you dont shoot it well.

Hahahahaha my baad aha. I like that top one and the bottom left but the bottom left seems to be bigger . What model is the top one?

And I probably have smaller hands that most people as holding the 357 was uncomfortable making it my less favorite to shoot. the SP2022 seemed to have a decent sized grip but I haven't held it. I was trying to find a glock 19 but idk if they come with 10 rds. But let me know about that model. I've been just watching different reviews are a few 9mms and a few .40s

Edit : is it a m&p 9mm?
