question about deadening interior of car

Recommended Posts

about 8 years ago i deadened my vehicle with some deadener, instead of putting anything on the metal i deadened the backside of all the plastic panels and then reinstalled them. it certainly helped (tested on termlab higher then pre deaden) and also eliminated many rattles inside and outside the car

looking to do a vehicle early spring and was just going to deaden the backside of all the panels again

anyone have any input on this?

right but if all the inside of the panels are deadened with a cpl layers wouldnt that basically make it a pretty tight seal to the door and block off those access holes anyways?

it'll work, but it's not done properly and wouldn't sound as good as if you seal off all access holes in the door and dynamatted the inside and outside of the inner door

I agree with this. Youtube video's for proper installation. If your going to do it, do it right IMO.

You will need to address both vibration noise and air borne noise. Use a vibration dampener like Second Skin's Damplifier Pro or Spectrum spray on deadener. To address the air borne noise you should use a MLV like Second Skin's Luxury Liner Pro to absorb the airborne noise and also to act as a barrier with the vinyl backing.

i would put deadener on metal.

rap your knuckled on your door, then apply some deadener, maybe a 6"x6" section. rap your knuckles again and see how it sound.

Do the drivers side and not the passenger side so you have a "control" sample to compare to.

all deadener is good for in doors is to just keep the metal from resonating.

i can go into more detail if you like, but i will leave it at this for now since you have some experience.
