For those times when it get really cold can we use a battery warmer or would it not be a good idea. Just a thought being that we keep up on the charge of these batteries that this might help since the cost really isn't bad either.

I used to have a battery blanket it my old car, mainly because it had trouble starting in the winter and during night shifts it would sit outside in -35c. They don't get hot enough to damage the battery, other wise they wouldn't make them. Depending on how cold the temperature, you need to get a more powerful one. I had a 100w blanket.

But then again, -35c is actually cold but something like -5c isn't that bad really.
