Frank Lukasik
Hola! So iv been thinking of downsizing (guess thats what ud call it ) from 3 x15s to 2 I only wanna downsize for my back seats back But i was wondering if i down size to 2 subs would i lose a ridiculous amout of output or would the extra power to each sub and a different box design kinda balence things out i was thinking a possible 4th order for 2 if id fit behing my back seats Current set up -2door blazer - 3 x15's - bc3500d - stock electrical (shhh I'm geting to fixing that) - and a BIG azz box Subs up port back
Miguels
what are you wired to now and what will you be wired to after? if you are trying to remove one sub to gain room then the 4th order bandpass is not an option.. those tend to be bigger enclosures Quote my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/
Frank Lukasik
I'm wired to 1ohm now (at least I believe) ,n yea ik 4ths bigger im ok with the box being tall within reason if it would fit
Frank Lukasik
I would be just fine going witha ported box if the extra power to each sub would make up for the loss of cone area
mnrookie
Are your subs dual 2 ohm subs or dual 4's?
Miguels
well there is not enough info here to know for sure.. in theory yes you will lose output but your not telling us what coils your subs and the load. youre not giving us the enclouser specs either Edited January 11, 2015 by Miguels Quote my logshttp://www.stevemead...-my-new-set-up/my blow through loghttp://www.stevemead...future-updates/ 96 ss http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164094-96-impala-ss-build/

mbdblue
short answer, there's no way to tell....All depends on your box skills....The box shape and position will probably be different, so that will have a hand in how it performs and sounds. And if your thinking more power on each sub than your most likely talking about wiring to half ohm, which IMO wouldn't think about until you beef that electrical. Miguels
it will depend on the box he has now. if its on the smaller side he can build one on the larger side and make the box more efficient. but like everything he doesn't give any specs of anything and just asks if he will lose output.. by the way.. why is this in the sundown section? TaylorFade
You're not at 1 ohm nominal with (3) D2's. Maybe 1.33? Even that on stock electrical has got to be killing you. The short answer is... yes. Losing a sub will hurt your output. All things being equal- to the tune of ~ 1db. BUT... all things won't be equal. You could potentially wire to .5 now and rebuild and be louder than you were before.
