Discussion - Cutting trucks and blow throughs

Recommended Posts

So I'm trying to figure some of you out. I have an 06 crew cab F250 and I'm hesitant about cutting on it. However, I also know that there are very limited options to go at least semi big on a build. So most of the options are limited to cutting in a blowthorugh.

But, some of you with these new 2014's and 2015's, JON RABE, are cutting yours with what seems like little to no hesitation. What am I missing, and don't say a set of nuts.

I mean really, are you guys just sure you're going to have it forever, you're sure you can close it back up, not worried about trying to sell it in hopes that another bass head will buy it?

Why not go through the rear window, remove it and port through it vs cutting the cabin? Asthetics? Stealthiness (not having a huge port in plain sight)?

Let me know. I'd love to hear some of the mindsets out there.

I've had a few of those reactions. Why? What don't you like about them? I think it makes the truck look beefier, if you get the right one anyway. Plus it allows you to go full height and not limited to below the bed line.

It's all about personal belief. I went wall because I'd rather replace some plastic over a cut bed.

Can always weld the cut sections back in and repaint the areas, they're usually pretty covered up anyway. Just time and money like everything else. I also don't like the looks of a topper. As with everything else, personal preference.

Just like lowering, lifting, custom paint, certain grille or light styles, interior paint, etc. No matter what you modify you're limiting your potential market if you sell. Not a big deal to me because I'll just undo it and redo it the way I want. Like I would with a stock one. Not everyone sees it that way.

Believe it or not there are millions of people out there that enjoy stock vehicles....those weirdos.

Static drops are my bag.

I can't answer that Scott because I bought this truck solely for what it is. If I had to have the back seat I'd cater towards that like I've done in my daily driven cars with beat. This is my toy so I do what I want. When my wife lets me

LOL I completely understand Nate. COMPLETELY understand.

I would love to keep the F350 I'm working on as my "toy" truck. Even got "permission" from the wife. But the problem with that is, I don't have the money to do what I want with audio unless I sell it to fund it. So it'll have to go in the other truck. Wife won't be happy at first, but it'll work out I'm sure.

JK13, I get what you're saying as well. I don't mind a stock vehicle. I don't think I'd do anything with my wife's brand new explorer. It's a great stock vehicle. I honstely don't find myself sitting there figuring out what I'd do with it if it were mine like I did with her accord. But to each his own, and I truely believe that.

I want to lift this one 4" and put 35's on it with 22 in Fuel wheels. Not a crazy lift, but enough. I would love to do things like a new grill, and projector headlights etc. I enjoy this stuff, along with auido obviously, even though my wife thinks it "looks silly". I don't do it for anyone else, I just do it because I like it. But yeah I understand what you're saying about the market too.

I think with mine, I already have bed liner on it, it came like that when I bought it, it's going to be some work to cut and put back if the time comes that I ever do that. I'm probably going to have to scrape off all of that bed liner before I even cut it. Then I can put it back on when everything is cut and lined out. But I don't know, may have to get with Rabe on that one. He's my usual go to on these big ideas of mine.

Too many ideas, not enough time or cars or money. Isn't that the way it goes!! LOL

 im sorry i chucked at that too much lol

and most don't go through the rear window as it limits design options

and i've always been a fan of go big or go home.. if you're gonna cut the back wall at all just cut the whole thing out and do a wall

(unless for competing purposes)

This isn't teeball. YOU DO NOT GET A TROPHY JUST BECAUSE YOU SHOW UP. Put the work in and then maybe get the respect when it has been earned
