TaylorFade
Really quickly...I've been looking for a decent budget EQ and ran across this one in my search so I decided to give it a shot. I wasn't expecting much from an $80 EQ (Amazon), but I was pleasantly surprised.First (and I knew this already)... it's parametric (well... "para-graphic"). What's that mean? That means you can dial in exactly what frequency you want to cut/boost instead of having to choose from the fixed bands that others give you. With only 7 or 9 bands, chances are pretty good that a trouble spot will land between the fixed bands. I call it "para-graphic" because you can adjust the frequency, but there is no adjustable 'Q' like you would find on a true parametric. But... still better than a graphic.2nd... when you use the little screwdriver that's included to adjust the frequency... it has a digital display that tells you what frequency you're on! No more guessing or eyeballing it. This is an awesome feature. Awesome.Speaking of the digital display... as a default (when you're not fiddling), it is a DC voltage display. Bonus. The unit has an adjustable bandpass crossover for the sub too. The SSF is on the top, but the LPF is on the faceplate and you can also dial this one in with the digital display.Sub level control is handy. And considering a PAC knob and a Stinger voltmeter would run you ~ $40, you're really saving money. The unit only has RCA inputs. High level inputs would have been nice. It's only 2 channel in, but 6 channel out- front, rear and sub. It also has an aux input that's selectable from the face. The backlighting is bright as shit at night. Bright enough to blind you from actually seeing what knob you're trying to turn.Subjectively.. it's quiet. I was expecting it to be noisy, but I listened for a while with everything "flat" and it was transparent and didn't add any unwanted noise. The frequency centers seem to be right on the money according to my RTA. I can't confirm what the 'Q' is.Overall... if you're in the market for analog EQ... I can recommend this unit and feel like it's a much better buy than the Clarion that's so popular.http://precisionpower.com/store/products/accessories/signal-processors/e-7.htmlSeen here adjusting the "mid-high" band and have it adjusted to 2.7khz as evidenced by the display. It automatically switches to this and back and forth between Hz and Khz.
CleanSierra
Good write up Taylor, as always. It would be nice if there were High level inputs to be able to use this as a factory integration unit for $80. I'm glad PPI is offering something like this. I wonder how much noise you'd introduce with a simple LOC from a factory HU(2013-Camaro specifically), then plug that in to this EQ? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you. 2loud4uboyz
Cool how you can adjust each level plus letting you see the crossover slopes setting points. I like using. Eq's. I got a new one for Christmas from wifey. Wish I seen this before I bought the one I got.. Also like the voltage meter seem sweet. Thanks for shareing sir. Kyblack76
well done as per TF and your 100 percent correct. i have 4 areas, that id like to cut/boost, and every one are in between the set bands i have to use...... Just for kicks and shits, how accurate is the "band". When it is on 300hz, is it pretty dead bang? anyway,.. well done as always mate. TaylorFade
That's basically how I'm running it. I had simple, cheap LOC's but they were a little noisy (alt whine). And my OEM HU pulls voltage below ~ 40hz so I added an AudioControl LC2i hoping the "AccuBass" would help level that out. It didn't, but it's quieter and I like the "Great Turn On" feature. So, as it sits, I have OEM HU > LC2i > PPi E.7 > 4 channel. With no EQ, my shit wasn't really all that bad, but the "shape" of my FR wasn't ideal (to me). I did some more fiddling today and I am definitely getting my $80 worth out of this thing. Before on top. After on bottom. Ampere AA6.5 components running passive. Ampere class D 4 channel in 3 channel mode to an Ampere 12" in a sealed box. jessdabest77
So,this is better to run with a stock deck, than an aftermarket? And of it would not matter, than what would be a good aftermarket stereo to use,so to keep it under 200?
JohnnyOhh
TaylorFade, did you test the equalizer's output voltage? Do you know what it's capable of? PPI claims 7V MAX. Thanks for posting this info.

_paralyzed_
Would you run it to a stock deck or can you run it to a cheaper aftermarket stereo? You can use an aftermarket. You need a line output converter to use it with a stock.
