choosing the right sub for me

Hey everyone I'm new here so I hope I'm posting my question in the right place. I have a 1994 mercury cougar with 2 Power Acoustic Mofos in a 9 cube ported box firing towards my back seat and sealed off from the trunk. I need helping choosing a set of sub's, Im going to stay with 15inch sub's firing the same way but I am building a new box for the new sub's I get. I will be powering them with 2 Sound Stream tarantula ta1.3000d they are rated for 2500rms at 1ohm and 3000rms at .5ohm. I plan on running them at 1ohm each. I'm hoping I can get at least 2000rms out of each amp with the right electrical upgrades and I'm getting a sweet deal for both so they will have to do for now. The subwoofers I've been looking at are 2 soundqubed Hdc3.0's, 2 sundown X-15's(little bit over budget),2 AB XFL 15's, or2 AB Hd's. Enclosure size isn't a problem and I would like to get very loud with some decent sound quality at least and stay within 300$ to 350$ per subwoofer, I've been leaning more towards the HDC's or the X-15's although I read American Bass has good subwoofers. So what do u guys think and I'm open to others brands too. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. The 1st rule of the forum is no Versus Threads. All the brands mentioned together with dd audio, incriminator audio, dc audio, the list is endless and they are all good subs. But best advise would be for you to look through the build section and see what you may like from there or check out youtube and reviews. The reason I say this is everyone has different taste so the subs are like might not work for you.

Not trying to start a versus thread I know both of these brands are nice choices and both have there pros and cons, I really like the X-15 from dedsundown. I've did a little research on it and everyone says its a low end monster. If I built the recommended enclosure for them would they be capable of putting out the higher frequencies let's say around 45hz if I tuned box to 30-35hz? When ppl say low end monster how low is low!! I'll be using them for daily listening mainly hip hop, and rap. This will be my first set of nice sub's and I would like to keep them for awhile.

The X series are truly low end monsters. If you tuned at 35 hz picking up 45 hz won't be an issue. But at 30 hz you will sacrifice some higher frequencies. Just keep in mind that the closer you are to fb the louder that frequency will be. And when you ask how low, people mean very very very low. Had a mate with 2 x12 tuned to 32hz they could really dig deep

Thanks CJ that was the answer Im looking for. I was just worried that because they were built for so much low end maybe they wouldn't pick up the upper stuff. When I played my mofos at 40hz with my test tone all you could really here was the cone moving, but there just didn't seem to be any sound for them that was in 8 cubes after sub and port displacement tuned to 34hz. Im gonna roll with 2 of the X15 I'm sure they will be a nice upgrade either way.
