Looking for sub that gets the low in a "small" box

I'm planning my build for this year, my current setup only plays well down to ~35hz, and I'm hungry for the low-lows. I listen to a lot of decaf and also metal with extremely low tuned guitars/basses and I'm missing those earth shaking low notes.

I'm looking for a 10 or 12 that can get down in the 20-25hz range, with a maximum box size around 2 cu ft. I know Hoffman's iron law, so I know this won't be the most efficient, but I'm shooting for deep extension and small enclosure. I plan on powering this with a Crescendo S1500.1 running at either 1500+ at 1 ohm or 1000 at 2 ohms (for electrical efficiency).

Not looking for a VS thread, just suggestions that fit my criteria

-Play down to 20-25hz

-Maximum box size 2.5 cu ft (external)

- RMS ~1000-1500

As a side note, how do you hatchback and SUV guys secure your boxes? My spare tire and tools are under the rear floor and I still need access to them.

Most subs will dig fairly low if the port is appropriately tuned. 2.5 cubes outside the box, I'd be looking at a 10 personally, my SA12 is tuned to 33 hz but the box is like 3 cubes before port and sub displacement.

I was fortunate to have tie down hooks in the hatch of my Mazda 3, so I have a steel chain lanyard firmly attached to the box with lots of screws and body washers (could also make a steel backing plate and run bolts through with a dab of silicone in each bolt hole) and a D ring caribiner on the end to attach to I can quickly remove it if need be.

On the other hand, you could always do an Image Dynamics or two in a sealed box, mine dropped fairly low (not 20 hz low though, not the ID8, perhaps a larger ID sub) in a really small sealed box.

Theres a ton, what type of enclosure are you looking for and what are the dimensions? I know you said 2.5cu ft but is there a limit on Width Depth Length?

I'll make a list and send it over to you. Me and Trit were going back and forth about 10s and 8s and I was looking for lower end extension too.

The space I have is 14"H x 42" W x 30" D, but I do not want to use all of it. I'm planning on a standard ported box, with low tuning of course. Looking for a fairly flat response or even a slight peak down low.

The DSS Ethos 12 looks like a possible candidate.

1.5 cu ft tuned to 32 is their suggestion, looks pretty good in winisd.

zv4. Just threw on 21 hz port in a 2.5 cu box. Definitely digs. your going to need to go small on port to get the length though.

I've been looking at the X-series. Small on the port is probably okay, I don't plan on pushing too much power to them and plan on doing some crazy kerfing/flaring. Considering trying the polk "power port" flow guide design to shrink the port and minimize port noise. I have access to 3D printers and would be able to print the flow guides easily.

Yea x would definitely be better for your power. I would do a 4 inch aero. 6 inch too big
