Dakota Ritchey
To start off i am new to the site and Ive been told to come here for any questions that I may have. My brother in law gave me 50 ft of 0 gauge wire, rca's, remote wire, amp, and 1 12" sub but no box or amp. So i ordered a box and bought an amp from a local. I will have all this installed in my 2000 Ford Taurus. The system is as follows below: Sony MEXBT3100P Head Unit. 0 Gauge power and ground wires ran. Hifonics BRZ1200.1d. Dual 12" sealed box (1.191 cubic ft per chamber after displacement.) 2)12" Pioneer TsW304s wired to 2 ohms @ 900watts rms New 130Amp Alternator Big 3 upgrade (All 0gauge wires have been soldered) Kicker 0gauge mini fuse inline near battery with 125amp fuse. I have all my wires ran throught the car already and Im installing the subs with amp mounted on top of box. I was told that getting subs to hit hard in my car was hard to do due to the trunk being damn near airtight. With having a sealed enclose the guy recommended me to add two ports to the rear deck lid. I have never done this and am up for the challenge. I have always had loud extreme bass setups in the past and always setup all my friends rides for them so I have experience but no experience with ports whatsoever and need help determining how big/long the port should be. I have been out of the car audio scene for 5 years now and im ready to dive back in head first. So my main question is should I do this? And will it be better/louder with the ports since my back seat does not fold down? I have never had a vehicle with an airtight trunk. All other cars with systems were either hatchbacks or coupes with fold down seats in ths back. I just want this to sound the loudest that it can. Yes I know please dont flame me for the pioneers. I know they are cheap but for getting everything for free except the headunit, box, and extra sub ive only spent about 300 and thats not bad to me. So any help wiuld be greatly appreciated. I need all the help iI can get thanks all. 2000 Ford Taurus SES Dual Sealed Pioneer TSW304 Hifonics BRZ1200.1d wired to 2ohms Sony MEXBT3100P All 0 gauge Power & Ground Wires BIG 3 Upgrade Stock Door Speakers for the time being. _paralyzed_
He means just cut holes in the rear deck to let the bass through into the cabin. It's not really a port, you just want holes. As big as possible. Cutting away material behind the seat back can also help.
Dakota Ritchey
In that case should I just remove my rear speaker's then until I decide to add new 6x9s in their own boxes? 2000 Ford Taurus SES Dual Sealed Pioneer TSW304 Hifonics BRZ1200.1d wired to 2ohms Sony MEXBT3100P All 0 gauge Power & Ground Wires BIG 3 Upgrade Stock Door Speakers for the time being.
