commencal
Hi, Just would to know how wire 2 different amps ( one for the sub and the other for the mediums ) with a second battery, and where put the second fuse ! Thanks !
hoit
two complete power kits, with the fuses mounted as close to the front battery as possible, another fuse just before the second battery, and a third fuse before the amps, assuming the amps don't have fuses in the amp itself. i'm kinda confused on what exactly you're asking. 2007 Chevy Aveo Ls sedan 2 Sundown Xv2 on scv4k @ .5 ohm 2 pair RE XXX 6.5 components on sax200.4 @ 2 ohm Big Three, Three runs 1/0 power from front to back, 1 ground front to back Two runs ground from rear bank to chassis XS power d3100 upfront, 3 Odyssey 2150s in bank Singer 220 amp alt
SLYentist
just keep the fuses (rated by wire capacity) within 18 inches of each battery positive post. that way, if the wire is damaged within the run from front to back, one or both of the fuses will blow and avoid arcing and subsequent fire. Cables and wires almost never fail; the terminations do.
commencal
Okay, but why 3 fuses and not just 2 ? And all the fuses should be the same ? For wire the second battery at the 2 amp, how I should do ? Because one amp will run at 1100 w rms and the second at 2*100w. I can use 0 gauge for the first and 4 gauge for the second ? firebirdude
2nd battery is in the back, correct? 0awg with two fuses to connect the batteries together. One fuse under the hood and one at the rear battery. What amplifier wiring you do after that is completely separate. One run of 0 off the rear battery to a fuse distribution block out to the two amps. Or run two separate fused runs of whatever gauge you need right off the battery. Same thing. commencal
Okay, and all the fuses must be the same or not ? Like that ? http://i42.tinypic.com/t559jd.jpg + the wire (and again a fuse ?) to the second amp (second battery positive to the amp) Or run two separate fused runs of whatever gauge you need right off the battery. I opt for this solution, so there will be 3 positive cables on the second battery ?

Yes. Like that. You want wire that can handle the total current draw of the two amplifiers combined, and you can either fuse for the current rating of the wire, or fuse for the total amount of current required by both amplifiers. So by example, if the wire you have is good for 300A at 20 feet, do not use fuses larger than 300A even if your total current draw is over that amount. But if your amplifiers total up to an amount of 250A required, you can use that or a 300A fuse for the two fuses between the batteries. And then for each fuse to the separate amplifiers, they should be for the required current for that amplifier which should be in the owners manuals. Understand?
