cgrez33
Hey guys, So I'm planning on going to look at a truck tomorrow that I may be buying but I have some questions as to some of the things I should look for. I have basic mechanic experience but I'll be taking a buddy who is a certified mech to look at it as well. I'm really just asking for people whom have this similar model truck as car issues vary from model to model. If the truck has been sitting for about 2 years is it safe to just try and turn it on? What are some things that are known to cause issues on these trucks? I spoke with N8 and he mentioned the transmission and cab corners tend to be an issue. Any others? Edit: Truck has 160k miles on it. Has no history of any major issues and last repair was made was replacing the fuel pump. Borris The Blade
It's gonna need all the fluids changed after sitting for 2 years. Rust will be the main issue that I can think of, those are some solid trucks that can run forever if taken care of. It's like rubbing your wiener up against a sheep. badasschevy
If the intake manifold gaskets have never been changed. it's time for them to be. cgrez33
So since purchasing the truck I've realized it was alot better than I had expected. Billstein Shocks Dual Magnaflow Exhaust No Rust anywhere in the truck. I've performed a: Tune-Up Oil Change Changed Brakes. Truck runs great have had several people offer to buy it for me but unfortunately I need this for work so that's not an option. Going to be a daily so no wall but I'm thinking two 15's. firebirdude
If it has been sitting for two years, it may need a battery. Even if it turns over fine while you're there, they probably jumped it the day before and let it run awhile. Sitting ~2 years with the battery connected is not good. Second, tires. Look them over for dry rot/cracks.

Buying new wheels and tires for it next week. Current Build: 1999 Tahoe #ComingSoon Previous Build(s): Crossfire Magnum 5k Pontiac G6 GT
