diegoclass2010
whats up guys need some help/ advice. lately i have been having trouble with my aftermarket alarm. its an Excalibur 2050 i installed it about 6 months about. worked great till lately, and i know my problem is wire harness that connects to the alarm antenna that is placed in the windshield. the problem is the windshield flexes alot and the wires come undone. i tried re-soldering again and worked for about two days. now my question is there another place i place the antenna and still get good distance? thanks guys in advance

firebirdude
Having some slack in the wire should be enough. As far as placement, really not much to this man. Metal blocking it will degrade range quick. So anyplace you can put it where metal won't block it will be fine. You can extend the antenna harness if need be, but I don't think you're going to find anyplace better. If your windshield is flexing, then I'm sure just about everywhere is doing the same. The windshield being a big sheet of glass is going to be your best placement. Maybe along the a-pillar instead?
mothra
try this with the antenna plug, put a couple layers of heat shrink over the connector at the antenna. put like 3 layers, so put one than slide it over and heat than put the next layer etc..... you get the idea. if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know
firebirdude
Yeah, what exactly is breaking anyway? Is it just coming unplugged? Or are the wires being ripped out of the harness? Heatshrink with glue on the inside. That isht ain't going no where. lol
diegoclass2010
sorry for the late reply. yea those are some good ideas... i think i will drench epoxy to make all the wires to make one, let it dry for 24 hours and add heatshrink.. the wires in the harness are ripping out at the pins since they are so thin. ill try to post some pictures later
