I'm proud of you Jeffery!! You stepped it up BIG time!! The box is sexy as hell!! I'll be there to see it at Heatwave for sure!! Excited and anxious to see it!!

BTW, You're working TOO hard on those A pillars lol you should've used speaker grill cloth to form it.. glass then body fill... it took me a couple hours to finish my a pillars doing it that way and because the speaker grill cloth is so stretchy, the shape looks natural/ factory

You make me want to go big again but I don't want those problems either lol

looks good man. id pay you to seal off my new box in my car. that shit is a lot fo work for the 2 pictures you posted. lol

nice box. love the stain. i did a very similar shade on my box. was this your first time staining? it looks good. not too many glue blotches. thats the one thing i dont like about stain, the assembly has to be flawless and you have to make sure to get all the access glue before it dries other wise stain wont take.

looking good. in for numbers

Thanks guys!

Yeah the A pillars were kinda just a blind shot in the dark... Debating if I want to leave them nasty for heatwave or try 1 more time with the more traditional way to fabricate. I thought since foam and body filler was my friend on my seal off that it would work the same.

God damn they sound good though. And freaking LOUD. I need a double midbass to keep up worth a damn.

Let's hope that's enough to hear over the sub stage ;)

I've stained a couple times Daniel and I've been careful with the glue, it's just almost impossible to get perfect.

But I appreciate all the love guys. Thanks Demario! See you at heatwave :)

So who wants to see this DSP in action? I'll take two videos... A demo video of the front stage for what ever it's worth over a screen .... And a little tour of the DSP andhowSO FREAKOING AMAZING and easy it is to use.

Seriously, a monkey could use this thing.

Scratch that,a 7 year old that follows directions could set up a sweet front stage on any car with how easy it is to use.

I say give them another shot! And I'm even about to give you a couple tips of how I did mine! (I'm not trying to thread jack with my pics, I just figure it's easier to see while explaining)

So first you have the hard part out the way, cutting the baffle and positioning it for the listening position. Next, you would want to stand the area you are working with so the resin and filler can stick to the surface..

The reason I recommend speaker grill cloth is because the stretchiness and ease to work with... It is also VERY easy to "feather" grill cloth compared to fleece.. You can use CA glue or Hot glue around the edges and it will stick like no other due to the pores in the fabric! You can trim the extra cloth with an exacto knife as close to the edges as possible (due to the way the material is porous and the glue expands, you won't have to worry about the edges lifting or coming a loose)...

Here's an example of how CLEAN the first step is and how EASY it'll make the rest of your project

IMG-20140928-WA0001_zpsa77150c9.jpeg

After that, you would want to resin over the grill cloth and make sure to resin good around the edges and where the cloth meets the baffle (don't resin the part you're going to trim off the baffle, just the edges where it meets.. you'll see in the picture).. But once you resin the cloth and edges, you will pretty much have the official mold of your a pillars! Once the resin cures, you can feather the edges of the cloth with a dremel and a sanding disk attachment and it will be nice and smooth!! Again, don't worry about the edges lifting because once the resin is cure, it officially becomes part of the a pillar (again, due to the porous nature of the material, the resin would actually cure on top and bottom of the material making it "attach" to the surface completely).. Here's how this part of the process will look:

received_m_mid_1412017661793_a198d552b98

You see how EASY this looks for the body filling process? :spiteful:

This next part is all about how "durable" you want it....

Because the a pillar trim is "out the way," I figured, why go thru the trouble of putting fiberglass mat on there when the body filler gets hard too?" I think because the profile of my pods didn't stick out much could be the reason it worked, but either way, do what you feel is best for your piece of mind.. In my experience, body filler only (no additional mat and resin) has been MORE than durable enough, not only in my care, but the upholsters handling and mine installing and uninstalling numerous times!

So you can either go straight to body filler or you can put mat on.. If you choose to put mat on then you will obviously need to body fill it, but either way it shouldn't be a lot of body work needed due to the prep leading up to this step.. but here's how the pillars turned out after MAYBE 20 min of body work

Thanks for the tips guys!

I'm going to be addressing my seal off and a couple other things with my build. a pillars will be last. They play great and the DSP is super easy to change around a little.

I really hope I have enough time to fix these A pillars. I was hoping to wrap them in vinyl before heatwave.

Also... Any ideas on how to fill the hole in my door panel where my tweeter once was? That would be AWESOME.
