Need experienced alarm aux help.

Recommended Posts

I'm no pro but I can do some pretty good work with electrical. I have a viper 3305V alarm system and I want to use my channel 3 aux to turn on and off my stereo in my 95 civic hatchback for use at car shows and simply just to wow my friend. I know how to do all the wiring necessary to make it work, but my issue is, my channel 3 aux is set so that it only provides and output as long as it is receiving a signal from the remote. I want to change the connection to latched with an ignition reset so that it goes on and stay one with first signal and then goes off up sending a second signal or turn the key on. I do not own a bitwriter, nor do I have ease of access to one or experience using one. I am trying to program the system using the valet button. so far I have been able to get to the advanced menu (stage 2) and I have been able to get to the channel 3 settings (2-9) what I can't figure out is how to get it to the latched with ignition reset settings. i know you're supposed to use some mixture of the lock/unlock/aux buttons while holding the valet key, but, I am stuck. please help!!

**here is the installation guide for the alarm. the programming instruction start on page 14 under System Features Learn Routine**

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but you just want to set 2-9 to the two chirp setting? That's it? It's explained on pg15 of the manual you linked us to. Ignition on and then back off, press and hold the valet button until you hear two chirps, release the valet button, press and release the valet button 9 times, press and hold the valet button on the 10th push. The alarm should chirp 9 times to tell you you're in 2-9. While still holding the valet button, press the AUX button the keyfob. The alarm should chirp twice. Release the valet button. Cycle the ignition on and then back off to exit programming mode. That's it.

How many Viper alarms have you done before?

I have never installed an alarm system myself. I usually deal with stereo's and lighting. i'm just trying to explore the aux feature of the alarm system. i did it exactly how you said (how the instructions say) but there are five possible mode. three of which appear to be under the two chirp sitting. when I did the process yesterday and then tested it with a volt meter it didn't appear to have changed the way the system responded. how do I know what mode it is on?

Ah ok.

The LED on the brain will blink a certain number of times. So when you're holding the button on the 10th press, the alarm chirps 9 times, it should be blinking according to what setting you have it set to. It does seem a little strange how they have it set up. Maybe press the AUX button more than once?

i'm pretty sure it can only be programmed with bit writer. who initially installed it?

That's what I was thinking too. However, it specifically calls out the features that are bitwriter only and 2-9 is not one of them.

Alright guys. I figured it out last night by just winging it. The alarm was installed by my local audio shop. The system is not locked so it does not require a bit-writer. For whatever reason I had to press the button 10 times, then hold. The alarm chirped 10 times which would lead me to believe I was on step 2-10 but apparently that is not the case. Regardless I got it where I wanted it and it is working with a latched connection now. Thanks for the help!

Glad you got it functioning properly.

Just so we're clear, and to anybody else reading this possibly in the future, a brain being locked/unlocked and features being bitwriter only are not the same thing. Certain features are bitwriter only even with an unlocked brain.

Additionally, certain features have more options when the bitwriter is used to adjust. Example, remote start runtime options may be 12, 24, and 60 minutes when using the valet button. But the bitwriter allows 1-60 minutes in 1 minutes intervals.
