Inetba
I'm trying to use WinISD, Torres box calculator, and psp inc to design my first box.My maximum dimensions are 33 width, 17 tall, and 31 deep which is 10.06 cubic feet. I plan on using .75" MDF with the two subs separated by a 1" MDF wall. This gives a new size of 8.48 cubic feet once you take material width into account. The subs have a displacement of .15 cubic feet so now I'll have ~8.2 cubic feet of air space.Since they'll be in separate boxes connected by a wall, I want to have two 4" aero ports. I really like how much everything shakes at 42hz and my the cabin gain of my car tends to raise the peak frequency about 2-4hz so I want it tuned to 38 hz.WinISD is saying the ports need to be 2.40 inches long. Torres is saying 1.5". PSP inc is giving me -2.2.Is what I'm trying to accomplish even possible?Edit: They're DD 615 subs on an M1 amplifier. Joe X
The small port lengths are due to the big net airspace and probably small port area, if this is for 15" drivers, maybe 2 4" ports would be minimum for very light ones (per driver), it would be helpful if you mention what drivers are you using. Also dismiss the PSP (unless you are using them) since now it seems it accounts for their custom flares so is no longer a general purpose calculator. Inetba
Should I make the boxes smaller? Or should I get 6" ports? I feel like a six inch port is too big. They're digital designs 615 woofers. I'll have them connected to an M1d amplifier. The speakers are Dual 4 ohm but I'm going to wire everything in parallel so it'll be a 1 ohm load.I entered a six inch port in the calculators and it did lengthen the port quite a bit, so I might consider two six inch ports. They're just so expensive!
Joe X
At 600W input power on 4 net @ 42Hz tuning, port airspeed for a 6" round port looks like this: I think use of two 6" port look good, if you want to compromise a little 3 4" ports could work being PSPs, so no compromise 6"s, you could reduce net volume but it will lose you peakiness and output, it all depends on what you are looking for. Inetba
well, I really don't want to compromise so it looks like two 6" ports it is. I'm debating building my own ports. It should be cheaper and I have access to a heat gun
