Andrew Storlie
Ok so im set now on getting a dayton ultimax 15 for my sub stage in a 4cubic foot box tuned at 25hz... i want dual ports so that the box is symmetrical, so areos are the best option. Im trying to figure out how much port area i need for this sub. Problem is the tuning is so low that the port has to be long. Going a large port area makes it a really long port and making it smaller may give me port noise or not enough port area. Any help on this would be nice The sub im getting http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-um15-22-15-ultimax-dvc-subwoofer-2-ohms-per-coil--295-514 The box will be made out of solid red oak wood made for counter tops. 1.5" thick all around. I plan to use 1" round over on top and side edges and then do a nice dark cherry stain on it.

Joe X
Two 4" round ports for the single 15" 24" in length each, likely they will need to turn somewhere inside the box.

Andrew Storlie
What kind of wood are you going to use? What kind of wood are you going to use? the wood im using is a 1.5" x 24" x 60" SOLID red oak counter top piece... i plan to 1" radius round the top and side edges and sand very smooth, then stain with a dark cherry color. and ill have an .75" x 8" x 24" acrylic window in the front. a 4" port on each side of the window and the sub in the center facing up.... symmetrical, beauty and going to be strong and heavy... but i really want something unique and nice (not a fan of fiberglass)... edit: basily the whole box will be that... no cheap veneer stuff. i want to go down to 2000 grit on this, stain and polish ill stop by the store later and get a real picture of the actual wood id be using.
