Voltage drop with H.O Alt

Recommended Posts

Hello

I just installed a 300A Alternator on my 96 tahoe but the voltage drops real low to 11 and my radio shuts off...around 40% volume

I have a 2500w Bass amp and a 1200w 4ch amp

I ran a 0 gauge wire from Alt to battery
and a 0 gauge from battery to the chassis
and I have a duralast gold battery(autozone)

Do I have to get another an additional battery ? or just upgrade the Duralast battery?

thanks..

what brand of alternator did you get? did you crimp solder your lugs? did your connections have oxidation and corrosion? did you sand the pain in your grounds to bare metal? how tight is each and every made? and how do you know your droping to 11 volts? i would go and re check everything i sad and report back.

looks like a small block chevy.. from late 80's to early 90's is it a truck or suv.. looks like the engine was worked on

not that it has anything to do with the issue.. just something i noticed
