Noser's 91 Ranger slow build

Recommended Posts

Food for thought... I had a custom built '88 Ranger standard cab. It had a Ranger GT ground effect kit, looked awesome, but under the hood was the fun part. It had a 2.3L 4 cylinder engine..... From a 1985 Thunderbird turbo couple. Something to maybe think about after the stereo.

That ground kit makes it look really elegant I think. That turbo 2.3 sounds like fun bro and best part it's all junkyard stuff. But for my ranger I was actually thinking about putting a 5.0 or a 5.0 with a 5 speed hopefully down the road.

The 302 would be my preference for driveability. Bottom end torque is where it's at.

Yeah, they do make swap kits for the fox body 5.0 engines. I ran 15 lbs of boost on the 2.3L, no intercooler with the 5-speed and factory 3.73:1 rear gear (there should be a tag on the axle tube or cover if you haven't discovered it yet to know your ratio) I miss that truck. I had an Alpine HU, Pioneer 6x8's in the doors, a single Pioneer Premier IMPP 10" behind the passenger side seat and a 4 channel Power 550X amp pushing it all. It was nice for the time... got it all from Circuit City if that tells you how long ago it was. Looking forward to your build.
