New to audio. Building ht ported enclosure.

Hey guys, i'm new to this forum and to audio in general. A few months ago I decided to venture into the world of audio and, so far, I love it! I'm just posting to get y'all's opinions on my build plans.

I'm planning on building a ported design. I'm not sure what the port is tuned at but the calculated tuning frequency of the box is at around 35 Hz and the F3 cutoff is at around 34 Hz. The port is going to be slotted and be 3.56" X 3.56" X 9.19". The internal dimensions of the box are 12.43" X 18" X 18". The sub will be mounted on the side and the port on the front (front being 12.43" X 18" and side being 18" X 18"). The sub i'm using is a B2 IS12 V2 and i'm using a Dayton SPA1000 plate amp. The wiring on the inside from the sub to the amp will be 4 gauge T-Spec Power/Ground cable. I will also be using two 1" X 12.43" and one 1" X 18" dowel rods for support. The specs for the port tuning and the Vb are based off of the manufacture's recommendations. The wood i'm planning on using is 3/4" baltic birch plywood.

I currently do not have a digital copy of the sketch of the detailed design.

What do y'all think? Any tips? Let me know if you have any specific questions that I may not have made clear or address. Like I said, i'm new to this and am just looking to learn all that I can within reason. I don't claim to be some genius but i'm not an idiot so don't be hesitant to go technical if you feel the need to. Thanks in advance for your time.

How did it get that the box volume is 3248.64 in^3? The total box volume should be around 4027 in^3 then, subtrating the displacement of the volume of air of the port and the volume that the material for the port takes up, it should be about 3792.02 in^3 unless I made some sort of error in my calculation. 55L is ~3356.31 in^3

Also, that is a neat looking program. Is it free?

look on here for a thread on torres box calc the download is in the thread "free".... I use torres and 2 online calcs to do the math.... so when all the math lines up im sure it is correct

torres is cool because you can input gross box volume and keep tweeking the port and it tells you its tune and the net volume you will be left with.... once you drop below what the manufacture recommends for air space you know your design will not work

That's cool but I don't understand how it got to those numbers. Here is what I did, correct me if i'm wrong. The volume of wood for port is, 2(3.56*.75*9.19)+((3.56+1.75)*.75*9.19) = 118.827 and the volume of air space is (3.56*3.56*9.19) = 116.47. Then I subtract those two values from the total box volume (18*18*12.46) = 4037.04. So (4037.04 - 118.827 - 116.47) = 3792.02. Is this not right?

honestly i dont know how its coming up with the math... if I do it old school here is my math...

if your port is

3.56 x 3.56 x 9.19

then 3.56 becomes 4.31 and 9.19 becomes 8.44 subtracting the thickness of the box wall

3.56 x 3.56 x 8.44 = 106.96 / 1728 = 0.061cuft for the port

12.43" X 18" X 18 = 4027 / 1728 = 2.33cuft

2.33 - 0.061 = 2.26cuft

See, that makes more sense. I completely dismissed that the baffel is part of the port wich reduces the actual amount of wood used so your numbers seem more correct. I was just confused on what that program was saying. As for the tunning, i'm really not too worried about the tunning, i'm just going with the manufacture's specs.
