2 subs, 2 amps. wiring question

Recommended Posts

I have a question regarding the wiring for a dual amp, dual sub configuration.

I have two Dual 1 Ohm subs, and two amps.

If I strap the amps, the load needs to be a minimum of 2 Ohms.. is this possible with my subwoofer set up?

Is there another way around this? Such as wiring each sub separately but still daisy chain the amps... i dont know... kind of a noob when it comes to the electrical stuff.. Any help would be appreciated. i have searched around, but have not quite found anything useful..

All coils in parallel will give you .25 ohm. All coils in series will give you 4 ohms. Dual coils in series and subs in parallel would be 1 ohm. Maybe run just one amp or get two more subs. Two ohm coils would have worked better for what you are trying to do.

Yes, my original setup was a single amp. Got a great deal on two recon 1.6's..

Anyhow, so instead of truly strapping these, you're saying wire independently.. Then could I just use the rca out to the other amps rca in? Is that what you are referring to when gain matching? Or are you suggesting I manually set each amps gains separately?!

daisychaining and strapping are not the same thing.... using the rca passthroughs to feed signal to more amps is called daisychaining.... bridging 2 amps together like they were a single 2 channel amp is strapping..... daisychaining is just so you can save money on rca cables and have a cleaner setup other wise you would need Y splitters everywhere
