Masterbasser
So i did alot of work last weekend and got my 2 18s into the mustang. also 2 group 31 agms in and now running amp at 1 ohm today i installed my backup camera and went under the hood to check things over. I noticed some bubbles on the smooth side of the belt, also some cracks on the ribbed side. the belt is only about 2 months old at most. The belt is a Dayco brand belt. What are my options here and what would cause this? Do I need a heavier duty belt? if so what brand? Might I need a new tensioner? the alternator is a mechman 320 with a 1.8" diameter pulley. belt wrap is pretty good this picture is not with the bubbled belt, it is to show my belt wrap Kenwood excelon ddx795 3 370 amp CES alternators (audio side only) McLaren dome tweeters Crescendo 6.5 ultra neos NVX JAD800.4 4 PA x4 SPL 18's 4 Digital Designs m5's at .7 ohms each 2 K2 80 ah lithiums 3 group 31 agms Ledglow million color (12 piece) 2007 Yukon xl
Broke_Audio_Addict
Dayco belts are garbage, get a gates green stripe or a goodyear gator back belt. How much play do you have in the belt? Masterbasser
i bought several belts and put the tightest one that would fit on, returned the rest. id have to call the autostore to see what length it was Kenwood excelon ddx795 3 370 amp CES alternators (audio side only) McLaren dome tweeters Crescendo 6.5 ultra neos NVX JAD800.4 4 PA x4 SPL 18's 4 Digital Designs m5's at .7 ohms each 2 K2 80 ah lithiums 3 group 31 agms Ledglow million color (12 piece) 2007 Yukon xl
Lbox88
^ to add to broke, if your belt has a good amount of play to it, try getting a slightly smaller belt since the mechman pulley is likely smaller than stock, and maybe look into replacing the belt tensioner if that is getting old/weak. Are you getting any noticeable slip or squeal? fucking UBL | Build Log
Broke_Audio_Addict
A belt can be too tight as well which will cause issues like this. How hard did you have to fight to get the belt on? A belt that's too tight can also cause bearing failure on your alt.
