2x Hertz HX300d + Audison SR1DK enclosure question

I have 2 x HX300d with a SR1DK getting installed in the trunk of a 2016 dodge charger, my question is what type of box to go with? In my old setup I had a ported box, so I'm going to put that in there while I build out a new one, but not sure what to build. Listen to a lot of rap with some r&b mixed in, so kinda bass heavy. Suggestions?

Thanks

Ported facing the rear. Build a box close to specs recommended by Hertz. Ran a pair of 10s off a 5.1k years ago and loved how those subs performed. I would add 15ish% more box space then they recommend and around 16 inches of port per cube. Wish I could remember what I used for my 10s which would need less but think I'm close to what you would want.

You should post information that will allow people to help you then. What your max dimensions are, what you want the enclosure tuned to. Make sure your max dimensions take into account the trunk opening being smaller than the actual inside of the trunk.

I currently have a ported box with a center round port, would love to go to a slotted port. But please, let me know which ones would sound better. I'm wanting to build the box then build several snap on fronts that I can interchange, thats why I'm building a new box even though I have one.

The dimensions of the current box:

Height : back 15 front 16 1/2. My trunk tapers so they tapered the box.

Length : 18

Width : 30

Thanks for any help.

That setup you show gives no great return path for sound waves to the cabin, also it looks you have a single 6" round port which is probably not enough port area, in this case a slot port would help providing greater port area.

What are the actual dimensions of your trunk, not the current enclosure? That should help get a design that suits those subs and your available trunk space, and also allow room for the sound to reflect out of the trunk and into the cabin. As joe said, you're trunk is completely sealed from the cabin, but with all of the output in the trunk and not in the cabin.

Awesome, thanks for the responses. I just measured my trunk, and its annoying. My trunk tapers from back to front but along with this there's a freaking bar that gets in the way. This is why the original box that I had build, above, tapers.

If I build after the bar

height : 20

length : 20

width : 32

if I build with the bar :

height : 14-20 (14 being the far back)

length : 24

width : 32

As far as frequency, not really sure. Like I said its going into a 2016 Dodge charger, my components are Hertz ESK 165 active on a Audison sr4. Not sure if that info helps at all but thought I'd throw in there just incase. I listen to mostly rap and r&b.

Let me know if anymore info is needed. Thanks
