Which Rivetnut tool is worthwhile

Recommended Posts

Quick question for anyone who owns a rivet nut tool, which one are you using and where did you get it? There are a lot out there and reading reviews is daunting.

Plus, steel rivet nuts or aluminum? Seem like aluminum will crimp easier and the cons of some tools is the amount of force to crimp some of the larger nuts. I would only be doing the max that the tool can support, 1/4-20 in most cases.

Thanks

i have an Astra hand version right now. the turn knob got worn in the first couple of uses. so now it's big PITA to use. I'll be looking for a pneumatic one soon.

I picked one up from harbor freight a while ago. 1/4-20 steel is all I use. no problems....

you could probably use aluminum if your bolting on trim panels or something. But if it's for example, to hold your box in, I'd definitely go with steel just for assurance.
