Nick33BC Posted August 15, 2016 Report Share Posted August 15, 2016 I am not expecting that much of a answer to this but...I will be buying a 15" car subwoofer most likely at the 1500W-2000W RMS range for home theater use.I can get a really good deal on a 3200W hifonics amp but as i have seen it normaly pushes slightly less than it's rated and 12.2volts is the max voltage it will get. The power supply converts 240V(Which is standard aussie wall socket power) to 12.2V with a output of 106.5 Amps. which converts to 1300WThe first question is if set the amp up for 1Ohm at 3200W RMS (which would be more around 2600W RMS with the voltage) would there be major problems with the power supply not being able to handle it?And if there is complications from the power supply under-powering the amplifier what would the complications be?And i would like to ask if it would be better to wire the sub to 1Ohm and over-power it but never turn it up really loud or under-power it and stay safer at 1300W RMS at 2Ohms? as it will probably be the same price either way.I have a 400W Pioneer subwoofer in a custom box tuned to 29hz being powered by a soundstream 400W car amp hooked up to my hi fi system with a 20Amp power supply in my room so i know what to do for installing everything but i do not know how well it will work on a bigger scale is the problem.Sorry about the photo quality not even kidding i used a ps2 eyetoy camera to take the pictures Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I looked at some on new egg, they have some like 14g wires or something. So you gonna twist all 57 of the 14ga wires together or run them to a distro block? I don't know if you could run two supplies in parallel to double the amperage. Might need diodes on the outputs so they don't try to back feed each other.
