You could check the RCA ground with a meter to be sure that is the problem. Maybe use a solid piece of 16 gauge wire and wrap it around the RCA out in a figure 8 and then put the end under a screw. Or take it all apart and solider.

Normally with a test meter the RCA out sheild should have zero ohms to the metal case on the head unit which is ground, indicating that they are connected internally. The quick and easy test without a meter would be to put a wire from the RCA out sheild to the head unit case. No need to do anything to the RCA wire.

But if you turn the motor off, and just key on the stereo there is no noise?

if the noise goes away, when the motor is not running, then the head unit is fine..... in my head. Noise only when running, is a different problem than the pico issue. :unknw:

if the pico let go, there would be noise all the time in my thinking.

Yup, you right, if the pico blew noise will be there with engine on or off...

1. Run new RCAs

2. Reground headunit to frame if it hasn't been done

3. Swap out amps

4. Check all connections especially your grounds
